[Hot on the trail of the Chevy Volt, in that long, seemingly never ending line of one green boondoggle after another green boondoggle, the $100,000 Fisker manages to make 183 miles before giving up the ghost in its Consumer Reports testing run.
Barry & Co would have had very short careers as venture capitalists. He was indeed lucky to have gotten his on the job training at the expense of the American Taxpayer. The American People, well, they weren't as lucky in return. Maybe Barry could find a day job as a singer and crooner somewhere. Women used to faint when Frank Sinatra sang, too]

"DETROIT (Reuters) - A $100,000-plus Fisker Automotive luxury sports car died during Consumer Reports speed testing this week for reasons that are still unknown, leaving the struggling electric car startup with another blow to its image.

"It is a little disconcerting that you pay that amount of money for a car and it lasts basically 180 miles before going wrong," David Champion, senior director for the magazine's automotive test center, told Reuters, on Thursday.

In a statement, Fisker said it was assessing the source of the problem that caused its Karma plug-in hybrid to fail. Fisker dispatched two engineers Wednesday night to examine the car.

Fisker has benefited from the publicity generated when actor Leonardo DiCaprio was handed the first Karma last summer and pop idol Justin Bieber received one as a gift this month."

Wow... nothing like celebrating this shit, isn't there?

Just remember...every failure is one step closer to success. Imagine if we just "gave up" on all of the innovation that has taken place over the past century or so.

This is how stupid and shortsighted you idiots are.

In 20 years they might have all of the bugs ironed out.

Meanwhile that shit-for-brains in the White House will have us paying $8 gal while we wait.

Ah, but they are so protective of the buggy whip manufacturers.

Gasoline headed for $5+ and these fools cannot see the advantage of having an alternative. Of course, the fact that there are a bunch of lab produced batteries that outdo the present ones by as much as a factor of 5 doesn't impress them.

Batteries are a technology that is rapidly advancing. Everyone knows that the people who create a inexpensive, easily manufactured EV battery are going to make buku bucks. And there real competition towards that goal.

So even as the 'Conservatives' celebrate every time an EV does not do as well as planned, the technology advances. At some point, the technology will be cheaper than the ICE, with the advantage that the homeowner can supply his own fuel.

First you get a product that works.

Then you sell it to the consumer.

Not the other way round

Who cares?

Nobody wants those gay electric cars anyway............at least not Americans.

The electric car market is a joke........an environmentalist fantasy. But dont take my word for it.................

Chevy Volt Sales Plummet as the Electric Car Market Slumps

Anyway........electric cars have to increase sales 50X over current levels to be feasible in the market.

Good luck...........:D:D:D

Here we go again. Mud, are you advocating that the government control the price of gasoline? If not, then what are you advocating? Or are you just demonstrating your usual lack of intellect?

20 years? Gimme a fuckin' break. It could be done effectively today and all it would cost this country is approximately one weeks worth of what we spend on oil. Well... that and a standardized battery.

He doesn't need to advocate anything. He is merely demonstrating that the emperor has no clothes. Electric cars aren't ready for prime time.

They are cool technically, but as of yet, there is no consumer product for them.

Well... it's the Conservative way, isn't it? Every single time one of them posts on this subject, it's a big "chalk one up for our team" post. You know it and I know it.

Heres what it is going to come down to.............

Its gonna be what the market finds profitable. Electric cars are up against a significant increase in technology for cars to go long distances on a gallon of gas and the car will still be alot cheaper than an electric version. Its that simple.

Environmentalist groups dont like to talk about cost in a discussion on anything.......and most noably with this issue..........as if the market was not a factor. But see what Edmunds says...............

Will Higher Gas Prices Boost Hybrid, EV Sales? - Edmunds.com

Oooooooops!!!:lol::lol::lol:

And some economic realites that the environmentalists dont want to face................and in the end, it really does come down to competition in the marketplace. In business, there are no ideologues..........if it doesnt bring a solid return, its gone. Why do you think different car models disappear every year???

The OP is nothing but factual.

Facts are not always a pretty thing.
