Don't forget there is actually a point to reigning in Obama's treasonous spending excesses, peeps. According to the Congressional Budget Office, the 'fiscal cliff' is good for us:

'Should the fiscal tightening goes into effect as scheduled, the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office (CBO) projects a decline in GDP during 2013, and unemployment to spike back up to 9.1 percent.

The agency predicts, however, that after this shock year of fiscal contraction, “economic growth will pick up, and the labor market will strengthen, returning output to its potential level … and shrinking the unemployment rate to 5.5 percent by 2018.”

Now, it will of course wreck Obama's second term, but long after Rubio is elected in '16, Barry can look back and take credit for making the economic boom happen thanks to his 'hard choices.'

IT is a win win!!!!

The sooner we go over the sooner we hit bottom and the sooner we can start climbing back up.

I say let's go for it.

The fiscal cliff seems to be exactly what Obama was running his campaign on: raising taxes. To me, it seems like he would welcome it with open arms.

Lets go for it

The US could use some sacrifice for a while. Higher Taxes and Less Spending

We have already tried Lower Taxes and More Spending under Bush

So now you're good with all the taxes that would be a result? :eusa_eh:

Yes. Romney lost and there is no mechanism to do it with growth now. Rubio can always run on tax cuts again in '16.

Time to just rock spending and pick up the pieces. We should be ready for recovery about the time Rubio takes over. Obama's agenda gets whacked in the meantime.

Like I said - WIN WIN

Most folks see the fiscal cliff as the only way the things that absolutely MUST be done will get done, like cut military spending and entitlements while raising taxes.

The problem is that the GOP and the DNC absolutely will pay a short term price for it. The 2014 midterms will be a mad house. You'll see a lot of the GOP House members tossed out in the streets if the House forces the country over the cliff, and you'll see a lot of the DNC Senate tossed if they're the ones to force the issue.

One need not have a 'job' to dread the taxman.

LOL

Yes, increasing government revenue to lower the debt seems like a huge mistake.

It's awfully hard to claim that raising the taxes on the top 1% is "lowering the debt" when the projected revenue won't even make much of a dent in the deficit, let alone the debt.

2 years ago, Obama voted to extend the Bush tax cuts. Why? Because the sluggish economy just couldn't handle a raise in taxes. What's changed in 2 years? Nothing. Economy still sucks. Unemployment is still high. But, apparently we're primed for a tax raise. Oh wait, could that have been because the Bush tax cuts apply to everyone, not the rich? Can't be. Holy shit.

When it comes to the deficit and the debt, spending is the problem. Both parties spend like drunken sailors. At least the republicans pay lip service to lowering taxes while they're at it. The democrats don't seem to be the least bit concerned about the spending side, not even the revenue side: they're concerned about the "tax rates on the rich" side.
