The final release is awesome. Firefox adds so much functionality that IE can't come close to equaling. The standard install alone already beats IE in my opinion. But add a handful of extensions and the capabilities are almost endless. I play all my music right from my browser, have the time and date in my taskbar, can right click pages to view in IE, have the current and future weather in my taskbar, google pagerank and alexa pagerank. There are literally hundreds of extras to add into firefox and they take seconds to install.

You can download firefox here:

You can get extensions here:

Then get your little ass on over here and install it for me - and take the garbage out while you're at it!!

What the hell do you need current and future weather for, if you're sitting on your ass in front of a computer??

Oh, and go install it on your mothers computer, and take her garbage out.

If I download the mozilla, do I need to add the extensions, or are they in the download already?

I had a vendor in a while back and he was using FireFox on his laptop. He had a lot of good things to say about it, too. In fact, Firefox has a developer's plug in (for us programming types) that is supposed to make our lives easier....

We're not supposed to download anything at work, I'll probably try it here at home over Thanksgiving.

Well, I just installed and must say...So far so good..Bordering impressive here.
I've used Netscape for years (hate IE). FireFox seems to be a combo of IE and Netscape, at least in looks..In speed it beats the hell out of IE and is, so far, a bit faster than Netscape. Very Nice!

gonna add my thumbs too------and i'm glad there are a bunch of folks I can use for help with it too but so far it's easy and fast. ty Jimmy! :clap1:

I'm going to show some of my ignorance here. I downloaded Firefox browser and it looked pretty good at first. I went to a site and I thought it took a longer period of time to download. Over a period of a few hours, when I went to a site, I could get up and go get a cup of coffee and come back and it still wouldn't be open. When it did open, as likely as not, my computer would hang up. I ran virus scans, spybot, and adaware until my face turned blue. I finally went in and removed Firefox, went to Internet options and changed everything back. Now I'm up and running again. I guess I need to study on this a while. BTW, I'm running XP.

XP has nothing to do with it. What might, and I emphasize might, be happening is that the site requires ActiveX controls to be used, something the folks who designed Firefox decided not to include. If this is the case then you must use IE for those sites. Very few sites absolutely require this technology, and for the most part it is a huge security risk, and this is the reason it was purposely not included in Firefox.

One more note, make sure you install the added plugins available from Mozilla and other reputable sources.

Ooop's, guess that can be confusing! The main address bar when you open your browser, if fact look up above now and that will be the one I am talking about! :D

Once completed with the changes, restart the browser and see if things appear a little faster!

Did that and i ended up at about.com
