An organized movement advocating the removal of the UN from the US. Steve Forbes wrote an article last week in Forbes about it. It's not a one issue organization, they spearheaded the removal of Grey Davis:

yes...i would fully support a group based in paris

funded by the EU

with all troops provided by the EU

I signed and looked around a bit. There is a link to the National Archives for 9/11, good written, video, and digital sources. Definately a keeper.

As someone who grew up in the (then-) UN Trust Territory of the Pacific Islands, my feelings on the UN are simple:

They're a bunch of socialist Third-World mendicants who vote their interests while insulting us and hounding us for our wealth at the same time.

Their agenda is not freedom's; it is not ours. We should go our separate ways.

Well with that, Welcome!

As a forum for international disputes? That would be fine. But the UN makes itself out to be more than that. Frankly, the UN's values are antithetical to American values. Thus, i believe that the UN HQs should be somewhere else.

Damn how long have i been saying this? Along with removing the UN from our borders and ending all contributions and resurces we give to them, we should establish a new global organization of FREE nations. Dictators, socialists, communists and the rest of the ilk need not apply. If the US leaves, many of the good countries in the UN would also leave. Its a powerplay that the EU fears every waking moment of every day. It would break up the EU due to cross allegiances between nations. Which is a good thing.

Get out of the UN Yesterday.

Wow, a pretty overwhelming response to eject the U.N. from the soveriegn borders of the U.S.A.!

Yet the true power of the U.N has always been at the whim of U.S. policy since its inception. What kind of threat really, aside from its propaganda value to certain international instutions and those who would pay it due, does this organization pose to the national security of the United States?

Does this institution sometimes run counter to U.S. policy, especially in the last few years? Absolutely.

Does it matter? Somewhat.

Over the course of this organizations' existance, the U.S. has had mixed results in influencing certain 'resolutions' time and again, but any concrete action from this same body has always been at the behest of its host country.

Moving this organization into the camp of the Euros would be redundant. And it would also deprive America of a venue that is still seen as an influential body around the world. And the survival of this very organization is ultimately at the whim of the U.S.A., and the apparatchiks working in NYC value this reality in the way one would naturally value a lifestyle of power, glamour, wealth, and elegence, having been installed into such a cushy position in the concrete offices of the U.N. building itself.

That certainly counts for something.

And as some might say, you keep your friends close, but your enemies closer.

To bad when Obama wins he will not only keep us in the UN, he will sign our very indepedence over to them.

People like Obama want us to answer to the UN, and not actually be a free Nation anymore.

People like him would have us ask for, and need, UN approval to Fart.

God save us all if the Dems win in the Fall.

hey that rhymed.

:)

I hear he sold his soul to the devil at a crossroads in the Mississippi delta, too.

The UN has been a feckless, toothless organization governed by rogue despots for some time now. I have mixed emotions about pulling out altogether, but I sure can't come up with any benefit to the USA to be a part of it. I just wonder though, that if we aren't there, how long Israel would last? And if Israel is attacked, what would our obligations be to deal with that?

Are there enough non-despotic, non-anti-American nations out there to put together a new viable group that we would not have to finance? I sure would like to be part of a group with the dice weren't constantly loaded and in which no nation had veto power.

Considering the UN has NO binding power if the US, France, Britain don't agree to any action, care to explain to me how its governed by "rogue despots"? Or do you consider them rogue despots?

As for the rest of you: The UN has 18 peacekeeping missions around the globe. Can you name even a quarter of them without google? If not, how can you consider yourself informed enough to have an opinion on them?

And if they are such failures, why are they stretched so thin? If they are such failures, why are there more requests for help than they can manage? If they are such failures, how did they get into Burma before the US did?

Oh noes, they aren't a completely pro-American group. Well lets just take our marbles and go home. Get over yourselves.
