Delrish Moss was selected from a pool of 54 applicants and he is Black. But he is no Affirmative Action hire.. He comes with plenty of experience earned in one of the nations toughest cities: Miami.
For 32 years he worked for the Miami Police Department.
Hopefully, Moss is well indoctrinated in Race Relations and knows what it takes to bridge the gap between a White police force and the Blacks who are the majority in Ferguson.. Was this a smart move for those doing the hiring? I think it was. Hiring a Black Chief should preclude a resurgence of the Good ol' boy network that flourished when every officer and the Chief were White. Moss also serves to test the link between Ferguson, the county sheriff and the State police. We know the feds have his back; at least as long as Obama or Hillary is in office. But if Trump wins the national election, I think we might see Moss resigning and making a hasty retreat back to Miami.
