FEBRUARY 9--Felony snowball throwing charges have been leveled against two Virginia college students for allegedly pelting a city plow and an undercover police car during Saturday's blizzard. Charles Gill and Ryan Knight, both 21, were nabbed by cops in Harrisonburg, where they attend James Madison University. According to police, the pair first targeted a city plow last Saturday afternoon. The driver responded by calling cops to report the frosty fusillade. When police responded to the scene in a bid to identify the assailants, their unmarked vehicle also came under an icy assault, according to a Harrisonburg Police Department press release. Gill and Knight, a guard on JMU's basketball team, were then apprehended and booked into jail for throwing missiles at occupied vehicles, a felony.. If convicted of the felonious snowball tossing, the men each face between one and five years in prison, and a maximum $2,500 fine. (4 pages)

Good law?

Depends, I can see where throwing ice and snow could be dangerous. I do NOT see it in this case but then we do not have much info.

My guess is that the law was intended to deal with people who drop/throw dangerous things at cars, like bricks/rocks/watermelons, from overpasses and such which could endanger life and limb.

However like all things governmental, once a law is on the books, its gonna get misused by some mental deficient full of his authority. Another case of going to jail for pop*.

*POP - pissin off the police

Ha ha. Might be a good idea to start teaching anti-POP techniques in school. Some of our students need some re-edumacation on that issue. lol

Good law?

The law in and of itself yes. Application of law in this case FAIL (with current information).
