Fellow americans its about obama in 2012, not who runs against him

To all of you, with respect

The GOP candidate will have little baggage, when it comes to being the president> Mu point is and has been simple
The very same people that have been saying that the 8 years of Bush being president have done a job that is twice as worse
They blamed the Bush Admin for the housing blow-up
but stated a 800 billion dollar stimulus would fix it

If Obama can convince the people that 6 trillion dollars in deficit spending, breaking even with jobs created (he is 2 million jobs below 2008 right now, I am giving him the benefit of the doubt he will add 2million more in 18 months) and that Obama-care (if the supreme court does not side with the Judge in Florida) is a good thing and that we really can save 500 billion dollars in Medicare, you see what Obama is up against?

None of this stuff is what he run on
and frankly its a mess right now and no-one really knows where we are headed
It is about BHO, and the GOP picks anyone above a goat if Obama cannot "SPAM" his way thru this mess
he is done

I think the overwhelming majority of voters in this country have proven that they don't take out of control spending and racking up debt seriously. No Republican or Democrat who didn't vote no on every single budget and bill with money involved would every be re-elected if we did.

When was the last year that the budget didn't significantly increase from the budget the year before? Even with us trading dems for reps, reps for dems over and over.

Spam huh?

Why is it so many people abuse and misuse interwebz terminology. :doubt: And restating your OP in the face of coherent counterarguments doesn't make your own argument stronger. You're just demonstrating partisan projection onto the rest of the electorate.

It is about Obama in 2012 if the economy improves only slightly in the next year, the unimpressive Republican candidate doesn't have a chance. If the economy remains sluggish it will be anyones race. If it tanks, then whoever the GOP puts up will win

Fellow americans its about obama in 2012, not who runs against him

Dems wanted it to be just about Shrub in '04, but the GOP managed to also make it about Kerry.

Sharron Angle wanted it to just be about Harry Reid, too....

Well I see there was some anger in this group
Not sure why

Within that anger there was no responses
It does amaze me that every-one here thinks things are going just fine

2010 mid terms had a 60-70 seat swing in the house
Am I partisan?

Obama has run up our deficit for reasons that has helped no-one but the unions within the Govt as well as some small business with tax breaks

Thats it in a nutshell

Republicans fuck things up so badly and then mock you when you can't fix them right away

I do think if you put a women high enough on a pedestal you could look up her dress
but I also think thats kind of perverted
now
I made an observation and
it was not I who stated that with 800 billion dollars in stimulus I could fix it
That was BHO

Obviously not a Steve Martin fan....

What did the Stimulus (and TARP) accomplish?

By late 2008, the financial markets were in a panic. Banks were failing, the Auto Comapnies were failing and people were pulling their money out of circulation. The US Government was the only entity with the resources to put money into the economy. That $800 billion was enough to signal that the US was standing behingd our economy.

The result?

Within weeks the Stock Market reversed after dropping from 14000 down to 6600. It has now moved back to the 12000 range.
GDP which was down for four consecutive quarters went positive and has remained positive. This alone signaled the end of the Bush recession

Has it brought around a booming economy? No....Stimulus was watered down with GOP pleasing tax cuts and was not enough to cause a boom. ..but does anyone else want to infuse cash into this economy? We Know the Tea Party doesn't and we know that business is still sitting on $2 Trillion...so we will have to see
We can quantify what did happen, but we can't quantify what didn't happen. Roosevelt, Truman, Eisenhower, Regan, and Obama were all criticized because their actions didn't improve the economy fast enough. But where might we be today without financial bailouts, job stimulus, monetary stimulus, and tax cuts. Unfortunately, there is no way to measure how many job weren't lost or how many businesses didn't fail. So the party out of power during a recession can always rely on the same old rhetoric. They can't be proved wrong. Nor can they be proved right.

Tarp did that and except for GM/Chrysler and AIG we got all of it back before the stimulus was even out of Pelosi s house
Tarp was 11/08
The Stimulus was 3/2009
the DJIA was 6500 3/2009
Tarp stopped the wall street collapse
profits and earnings brought back the DJIA
Stimulus?
kept some teachers working and besides that??????????????????????

The Stimulus created 3 million jobs per the CBO

The influx of cash into our economy stopped the panic. TARP held up certain sectors of the economy and stimulus did the rest. If it wasn't for those useless tax cuts put in to appease republicans we could have created more jobs.

The great Ronald Reagan used a similar technique to end the Jimmy Carter recession as Obama used to end the Bush recession. Only difference is that Reagan had more money (in 2009 dollars) to dump into the economy

I frigging wish!

The spam from the left is "whose the GOP got"
it does not matter

Are you new to politics? It's going to be about BOTH candidates. If the GOP thinks they can run little more than a chimp in a bowtie for office in 2012 and win, they'll get burned worse than a one-legged gimp racing Hussein Bolt. They need to take care of their own house and make sure to put forward the best candidate they can, not just any idiot cuz Obimbo is socialist Nahtzee thats gunna loose no matter wut.

So yeah, it very much DOES matter.

For some it will be about BOTH candidates. For many on both sides of the aisle it will only be about their candidate.

"....But a comprehensive new Wall Street Journal-NBC News poll suggests Republicans significantly overestimated the public’s eagerness to tackle the federal deficit by cutting programs like Medicare, Medicaid, and Social Security. As reflected in the growing “Main Street Movement,” the poll, released yesterday, found sizable majorities of Americans prefer steps like eliminating oil company subsidies, enacting a surtax on the income of millionaires, and rolling back the Bush tax-cuts. Only 23 percent think it’s acceptable to, for example, make cuts to Medicare, while 81 percent favor instituting a millionaire’s surtax."

Way to gooooooooooooooooooooooo......BONER!!!

Ridiculous analogies aside..the Republicans have been resisting with great vigor every effort for President Obama to set this economy right. The stimulus was about half of what it should have been and larded with Republican tax cuts..which do very little to stimulate the economy. They even set the limit on the package. Then they didn't vote for it. They've filibustered a record number of times and called President Obama every name in the book. One even called him a "liar" in the halls of Congress during a session. Add in Republican Governors have done their darnest to make people "feel" the pain despite getting gobs and gobs of cash. I've never seen such bad behavior from either party.

So the Stimulus took..and is taking twice as long to work..because it was perhaps a quarter of what was really needed.

So the Stimulus took..and is taking twice as long to work..because it was perhaps a quarter of what was really needed.

OMG....You people are insane. That can be the only explanation. There was a report the other day that it took over $288,000.00 of stimulus money to create one job....

And you say we didn't spend enough.?

The spam from the left is "whose the GOP got"
it does not matter
in 2008 BHO was the next messiah

5% UE had become "stale"
Deficit spending 1-2% of GDP was destroying us
Bush was an idiot

Its simple, if the GOP caused it, why cannot the Libs fix it?
they had 2 years with no-one in there way
with Tarp there has been 1.3 trillion thrown at this event sense 11/2008
and they used all of that time with health-care reform

what has it done?
we have a 2 million job deficit in 24 months
I do not blame Obama
I blame him for doing all of this with the intent to blame the GOP, then raise taxes
it did not work

now the spam is "where is the jobs GOP"
as i state in another thread, the GOP did not run on that agenda

Besides the GOP controls only 1 House of congress(for just over a month) and can do NOTHING with out the Senate and President signing off on it.

I agree it is about Obama, It usually is when a sitting president is running for re-election.

It is his to win or lose.

The fact is simple. Obama is above the mark 46% popularity mark historically required for re-election. He outpolls any of the possible GOP candidates by at least 10% points and more. We need a winnable candidate. Gingrich can't. Palin won't. Bachmann can't. Huckabee won't. Daniels and Cain are losers out of the gate. I like Ron Paul, and he has less chance the Michelle.

Guys, Romney is the candidate if we want a GOP victory. Don't matter what you libertarians want if you want most of all Obama out. That's Romney. No one else.

Of course the rightwing Monday morning QBs will always claim an alternative history

What would have happened if Obama did nothing like the right wanted?

Auto companies would have failed
Financial markets would have collapsed
Unemployment would be double digits

Even when you take that 40% out of the equation it still cost about 110,000 Dollars per "job" Created, and then only if you are very liberal in what you consider a Job. Most of the so called Jobs created were temporary positions not Jobs. Hell they even tried counting census workers and Poll Workers as "jobs created"

Sorry man, Call it right wing BS if you want, But the Stimulus Fell far far short of what we were promised.

Only a complete Hack can not admit that money could have been spent better.

Underestimate BHO again is not good for the GOP. Almost every other GOP possibility to MR will be out of the race by September with the exception of Michelle B and Ron P. We are working like crazy for Mitt.

Yup. Romney appears to be the front-runner right now, and seems to have an appeal to moderates--they are the kingmakers. Although things can change and someone could come out of right field unknown but rocket to the top within the year and a half.

I think when you boil it all down, regardless of all the other policy issues, Obama's odds of reelection are tied to the economy--specifically the unemployment figures.

The 2012 Congress, that's pretty much up for grabs I think. I can see Obama getting re-elected but Republicans building on their current numbers.

Romney is the only Republican who makes sense

Republicans will concede the presidency to Obama and concentrate on the Senate
