Last Monday, Mrs. BBD had her annual physical exam by our Family Practice doctor. When he did the PAP smear he noticed a polyp on her cervix and want's to get that checked out a little more closely. As a part of her physical, she had a bone density test and a mammogram completed last Friday. They called today with the results of the mammogram and said they wanted to do a CAT Scan and maybe a biopsy tomorrow because the mammogram showed a "dark spot" on one of her breast that they are pretty concerned about. They also said that some of her blood tests needed to be redone because they were not within the normal ranges. Both Mrs. BBD and I are a little concerned about these results and feeling a bit down today... Don't you just hate bad news? We'll get through this together just fine as the developments play out but it sure is a pain in the ass to get news like this. It's time for me to buck up and be strong for Mrs. BBD and I'm up for it. Luckily, she's a retired RN and I am a retired Navy Hospital Corpsman so we both know what's going on so it all doesn't sound like Greek when they try to explain it to us. Guess we'll know more tomorrow, maybe. Until then, it's a bummer of a day. Have any of you other ladies been through this experience and if so, how did you deal with it all?

Sorry to hear your bummed and bad news from docs. I had a hysterectomy when I was 23 due to major problems, also a grapefruit size tumor was removed at the same time. Life happens. Rod stressed more than I did over the whole ordeal. I have to say it was a relief not to worry about those girlie days every month through the years. In my late 30's our doctor had some concerns of breast cancer as a possibility. I didn't doc did. My mom had non malignant breast tumors, they removed a couple dime and quarter size tumors when she was in her late 30's. It was a scary thought for the family for her but everyone survived it. The docs were not sure what caused mom's non malignant tumors back then. When our doctor wanted to have me see specialist there I decided to wait until we went to Florida a few months later. Glad I did as we found a world renown specialist in FL. He told me breast cancer would be highly unlikely for me to have at any point in my life due to built, genetics and lifestyle.

BBD,

You and your wife are well equipped to handle anything that life will throw at you. My prayers are with you and take this time for both you and your wife to try and not think about it. Maybe take her out to dinner and a movie or something.

Keep us up to date too. I hate hearing stuff like this because I wish I could help and I know I cannot. I'm bummed now too :(

Thanks all. I appreciate the support and kind words. I'm sure Mrs. BBD will too. We've both been through a lot of stuff in the last three years. This is just one more log to jump over in the wilderness of life. I'll give more news when there is news to pass along. For those of you that believe in prayer, please put us on your prayer list. For those of you who don't have any religious inclinations, just your best wishes are fine. No matter what happens in life, we both feel that generally things have a way of working out for the best. Hope this is one of those times. This is a particular tough time for us both. Neither of us like "mysteries" and waiting to have the tests done to find out what is going on so a course of action can be decided on is killing us both. The hardest part is the waiting. It will seem like a long time until tomorrow.

Again, thanks all. I appreciate the kind thoughts and it gives me a warm feeling to know that bones will be here for the next two days! The prayers are appreciated. Bones, just light up a bowl in the Mrs.' honor.

The outpouring of support for you here touches not only me but I am sure others who read about your journey together. me and mine will lift Mrs. BBD and you up in prayer regularly.

I don't know you as well as the others but from what you have described all you can do it follow the path your on. You sound like the kind of man that will be there when she needs a hug, the gentle kisses and the loving support no matter the challenges thrown your way.

I believe that these are the times when love is renewed and found to be greater than ever imagined, a blessing.

For my part, I'll pray for your wife's good health and blessings to you and your family.

Thanks everybody for the wonderful support. I have news to report about Mrs. BBD and it appears that things are going to work out ok in the long run for her conditions. We spent most of the day yesterday at the hospital having test conducted and evaluations by her doctor. Here is what we found out... Her blood work was out of whack because she has developed Osteopenia which can be a early sign of Osteoporosis. This is what explains the broken rib she got last month for no reason at all. The doctor put her on some medications for this and will follow her closely with additional lab work. They did an ultrasound and evaluation on her and discovered that she had a pair of small benign cysts on her uterus. She has a follow-up appointment with the gyn doctor and will most likely have them removed. A very extensive evaluation of her left breast showed that the "shadows" earlier reported by the mammogram were a pair of benign cysts and they will be closely monitored by another mammogram in 6 months and if there is any change at all they will be removed. Things turned out much better than we feared they would and for that we are grateful. We are also grateful and appreciative of all of your good wishes, prayers and thoughts. Thank you everybody.
