Now can somone tell me why the Feds want ineligible voters left on the rolls?
If Florida had not discriminated in the past they would not have to abide by the Voting Rights Act of 1965 which restricted some states right to determine how to set voting standards in their states without Federal approval.
But since they are under Federal law they must abide by the DOJ.
From what I have read the objection of the DOJ is the method of the process. The possibility some citizens will be denied their right to vote in this process is very real. If someone moved and did not fill out a change of address card the post office will not forward letters. Therefore they would be purged.

Yes, actually, the Obama administration does want ineligable voters to vote. Ineligable voters always vote Democrat.
