The entire country was anti-war between WWI and WWII ergo Roosevelt developed his scheme to piss-off Japan even moreso. The sad thing is, he SACRIFICED almost 3,000 American or future American LIVES to have a reason to enter the war in Europe by keeping our Pacific Fleet and it's commander, Admiral Husband Kimmel, completely in the dark about the looming attack. The miserable SoB knew exactly when and where the Japs were and when.

Are you suggesting that because FDR has been rated as America's greatest president, Obama will be rated second greatest? I doubt it, probably Obama will be rated somewhere around twentieth best.

I would think that naval bases should be able to defend themselves. Did FDR instruct the navy not to defend Pearl Harbor? That attack had been foreseen for years by the navy and planned for. In any case I hope the navy has now decided to defend its bases.
