FDR Biography Book Review - Nothing to Fear by Adam Cohen - Esquire

As Cohen reminds us, the Republicans fought these changes every step of the way. They said famine relief would turn America into a nation of freeloaders, that capitalism would die without the gold standard. They called child-labor laws an intolerable intrusion on states' rights. During the debate over the Tennessee Valley Authority, so many power-company executives denounced the "socialist plan" that Congress had to schedule an extra day of hearings.

Does this sound familiar?

Your logic escapes me. You obviously are some young kid.

The curious irony of conservatism is if everyone were conservative, we would be still be living in caves howling at the moon. Dude lives there still.

Did you read the part on Conceptual Guerilla (sic) about the "Mythology of Wealth"
Total tripe.

Take a look around the world and you find that the countries with prosperous economies either have amazing natural resources (Oil) per capita OR they have very strong protections of personal property. The failing in the US is the failure to protect small investors rights to their property (investments) while simultaneously bailing out large investors. But the small investor would have nothing if they lived in a country which did not recognize property rights.
Unless the kept loaded guns to defend themselves and their belongings.

The curious irony of liberalism as that anything new, no matter how harebrained, is automatically better. Well, as long as it is "more big government" new, because we all know the liberals would be aghast at the thought of getting rid of Social Security, a failed program, because a new thought arose wherein everyone assumed personal responsibility for their own retirement.

Probably because all logic escapes you, and you just carry forward on self-deluded emotion.

The curious irony about Fabian socialists is that, despite the myth to the contrary, they're mostly a bunch of stereotyping bigoted boors, who wouldn't know an original thought if it ran them over.

But thanks for the momentarily entertaining strawman anyways.

Yep.

Freeloaders or parasites now constitute close to 50% of the electorate and have an insatiable appetite for federal largesse.

Capitalism has been dead since 1913.

The states have been reduced to provinces.

What else do you want to know?

.
