While reading my favorite piece of literature (Conrad's "Victory"), I revisited what I once thought to be my favorite paragraph of words. I must say I now find Jim Hoagland's paragraph on Tiananmen Square from last year to be my new favorite, something I can read over and over again and it affects me the same each time.

I also greatly enjoy the speeches of Lincoln, Kennedy (JFK & RFK) and Reagan in the non-fiction realms.

What's your favorite paragraph from a book, speech, column or essay?
