As for a song, does the Marshall Tucker Band count as country? I have always loved their song, "Take The Highway".

I also have a favorite country song title:

"I Wish I Felt this Way at Home". (Dolly Parton, I think)

I about lost it when I saw that title in print.

I'm not much of a fighter in the "new country v. old country" fights, since my fan-hood is only about 1/5 country (classical being another fifth and rock/pop/punk being 3/5), but I can see how Billy Ray Cyrus was not cool. My wife thinks it's dumb that I like this band "Rascal Flatts," which she compares to a male Dixie Chicks. Oh well. She likes Alan Jackson. I guess he'd be "middle country"?
