I remember when explaining what an onomatopoeia is, the teacher used "splat" as an example. And not just "splat", but the sound of something gooey hitting the ground. For some reason whenever I hear that word now that's what I think of. It just doesn't seem to fit.

"Parroting"? I can think of several posters around here that would fit, but not EZ. ;)

Here's one I always liked: poetic license.

I like the phrases that mean "crazy":

toys in the attic

dark at the top of the stairs

one sandwich short of a picnic

two bricks shy of a load

I used to know tons of these....I dunno why I can't remember 'em all. Dagnabit!

One of my favorite terms is "Jumbo Jet."

JUMBO JET!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I swear Richard Branson stole my life.

Still, I would have enough sense not to come out with Virgin Cola.

"You are who you are, when no one is looking."

Two more fave words. One was brought into my vocabulary by Madeline and I really like it and thank her: And that word is: thankies. The other is parvenu.

Another vote for serendipity
chimichanga
onomotopoeia
maladroit
ambidextrous
And for some reason, cheddar

And one I hate is fail safe. Fail safe? No such thing!

Ok, ok, it took me a while but for those who caught my typo....NOW I get the joke.

Fail safe, indeed! :D

People ask me, "Radio, What is best in life?"

I respond, "To crush your enemies, see them driven before you, and to hear the lamentation of their women".

I would gladly surrender to let some other man endure my wife's lamentations.

A life should be lived so that all gratitude is expressed by "thankies". A person should only have to say "thank you" to a dignitary, and they are to be avoided at all costs.

"Parvenu" I had to look up, AquaAthena. I believe you may be crediting me with greater wits than I have....though it is a cool word.
