This is a Fantasy Football vignette inspired by the film Any Given Sunday.

Cheers,

A group of NFL fans gathered in Washington on a Sunday to correlate their Fantasy Football [FF] picks with the stats of the NFL games that day. They noted whose FF picks best matched the NFL stats on that Sunday. The winner of the fan-group would win a Blu-ray copy of David Fincher's visceral sarcasm-thrill film Fight Club. The fan-group included Ted, Tom, Jake, Allen, Steve, Walter, Teddy, Charles, Freddy, and Cindy.

Teddy's big pick was that Tom Brady would outshine everyone, and he was hoping the Patriots would therefore destroy the Kansas City Chiefs on that NFL Sunday. However, Teddy always favored the Goliath-like Brady, so his fan-group buddies were not too 'excited' about his FF picks, since they weren't altogether that controversial. Nevertheless, Teddy remained excited to win that Blu-ray copy of Fight Club.

Meanwhile, Steve chose to heavily favor the Detroit Lions, since his son played high-school football for the hometown Cascade Lions. Steve's son Anthony Kimball was the senior-QB, and he wanted the Lions to stand out that NFL Sunday so he could watch Fight Club on his brand-new Samsung Blu-ray player with his son. Steve Kimball believed in good old fashioned surprise victories.

Well, as it turned out, the Patriots lost to the Chiefs that NFL Sunday, while the Detroit Lions won big, upsetting the favorite New Orleans Saints. Therefore, Steve Kimball won the FF-pool among his fan-group buddies that Sunday and won the Blu-ray copy of David Fincher's film Fight Club (starring Ed Norton and Brad Pitt). Steve went home and watched the thrilling film with his son Anthony; his son asked him why Fincher's film was so 'radical,' and Steve explained it was a sardonic criticism of consumerism-culture.

Steve realized his son Anthony was very entertained by the Fincher film and was intrigued by consumerism-culture critiques. Steve got his son Anthony a library book about the political cartoonist Thomas Nast who often wrote about the vulnerabilities of American socio-political culture. Anthony became an instant fan of Thomas Nast and wanted to learn more about consumerism-culture criticism. Anthony developed a nice theory that Americans should handsomely develop 'homegrown capitalism-criticism' and not leave it up to foreign terrorists to 'pick-apart' the flaws of consumerism. Anthony knew his dad Steve was happy he won Fight Club in the FF pool that NFL Sunday.

Anthony decided to purchase a set of matching red-and-blue toy water-pistols and take photos of them with his iPhone and upload them onto a political-cartoon Internet blog about the fictional DC Comics superheroine Wonder Woman commenting on the 'moral dangers' of marketing violence-themed toys (e.g., water-guns) to American youngsters. Anthony felt like he was Thomas Nast himself! Steve, his dad, was very pleased but urged his son to remain focused on his upcoming high-school football game with the hometown Cascade Lions.

Since Anthony had become a student of consumerism-criticism, his dad Steve decided to buy for his birthday a sarcasm-themed NFL message-portrait about how football and Fantasy Football [FF] promotes all kinds of harmless capitalism-critical humor. This was the age of media, after all, and people took notice of how social activities (e.g., sports) affected the masses through media marketing. Steve wondered if he should buy Anthony a Blu-ray copy of the American sports-culture film Jerry Maguire (starring Tom Cruise).
