Family Loses 'Extreme Makeover' Home To Foreclosure For STUPIDITY

'Extreme Makeover' Home in Foreclosure - The Home Front (usnews.com)

I remember seeing this episode, actually. Not just the TV show's crew, but a massive amount of volunteers, including the city's mayor, helped build the home for this family in 6 days, after they demolished their old home and faulty septic system.

I can't believe these idiots had the audacity to take something like this gift given to them for free, and mortgage all that money against it.

Editec, this is just one shining example of fiscal stupidity in this country. $450,000???? Are you fucking kidding me??

Fucking MORONS.

Hey, let's bail them out for the SECOND time, what do you think? I volunteer my tax dollars. Anyone else with me?

Yeah, understood.

But people doing foolish things is NOT the cause of this nation's demise.

Voting foolishly perhaps, but after all we're bombarded with lies from every quarter.

You got to waste as much time as people like you and I probably both do to separate the wheat from the chafe, and even then, there's so much conflicting information to wade through, that it's nearly impossible to figure out the truth.

THAT is not the people's faults.

That is just part of the power and control system and the people do NOT control it.

People very often squander what they are given and seldom what they earn. Isn't that the philosophical basis for opposition to welfare, and socialism in general?

sure...course it's also the very reason for government regulations as well.

the whole mortgage crisis is the result of people gambling with money that really isn't theirs right? And that's most applicable to the loan agents and investors and bond packagers than it is to the people who are losing theirs houses.

don't get me wrong have little sympathy for people who took out loans on for houses they couldn't afford.

i'm just afraid there's teeth to the argument that this whole mess is too big too ignore.

You've got to be kidding. These people were given a brand new house for free, with the sweat of many volunteers from the community helping out graciously, to get the project done in 6 days.

They turn around and mortgage the property to take a business risk for $450,000. Not $10,000, not $50,000 even, but somewhere in the neighborhood of the house's entire value.

That's not only disrespectful to the people who busted their ass for that family, it's also fiscally ignorant and STUPID.

In a time when people are losing their homes when they are actually TRYING to keep afloat, these people squander something GIVEN to them, that so many people are having trouble even holding on to.

I'm not sure what that's got to do with me being a libertarian, either.

Trying to make a better life? Tell that to the people who are being put out on the streets right now, or to the people who would just like to be able to even OWN a home to begin with. Ask THEM what a "better life" would be.
Paulitics could not be more right about this, not only were these people stupid, they were incredibly irresponsible.

I sure hope they will not be helped by the bail out. They took a business risk and lost. We should not be bailing out people like that.

I say we take their kids away from them and frog-march them through Atlanta then dump them in the ocean. Amazing that two people could get married, reproduce, and then screw up their lives to this extent.

Their kids probably wished the parents had taken advantage of the generous welfare system and just shacked up.

I am not sure if you are being serious or Sarcastic here. I would not take their kids away. I would just NOT BAIL THEIR ASSES OUT. :)

With his last $5 in his pocket and a two-week wait for his next paycheck, Shefik Tallmadge received news that would change his life forever. Tallmadge, then 29 and living in Yuma, Ariz., had won more than $6 million in the Arizona lottery, a record payout at the time.

Go figure! :cuckoo:

Hopefully someone has learned that making a big deal about how much you have "helped" someone has it's drawbacks.

Socialism is for the rich, capitalism for the poor, this family didn't learn that lesson. If they were a big corporation failing they'd be bailed out, if they were a CEO they'd leave with millions, or if they were our current president they be Ok, the Saudis' would bankroll them. Just doesn't make sense, poor people never learn the ropes. You gotta be a member of the socialist upper crust to get socialistic care and feeding, otherwise that free market gets you. LOL

They ended up in the same position they were when they started. Nobody got hurt and the show made some bucks advertising.
