Remember... guns don't kill people, gun law loopholes kill people...

MONROE, Wash., Aug. 17, 2004 — When a man suffering from depression killed his 5-year-old grandson and then himself, his wife couldn't believe he'd been allowed to buy the weapon used in the killings, because of the 58-year-old man's pyschiatric history.

Bryan Hetherwick bought a Russian-made Makarov handgun from the personal collection of a gun dealer in Mukilteo, about 25 miles north of Seattle, on the afternoon of Aug. 5, then less than three hours later shot his grandson, Brennan, and then himself, police said.

Police and gun control advocates concede that even if the dealer had been required to run a background check it is not likely he would have found anything that would have prevented him from selling Hetherwick the gun, because the man had never been committed to a mental hospital by court order.

In a related story, "The Scream", a famous painting by the artist Munsch, was stolen from a museum in Norway this past weekend. An employee at the museum told reporters what really shocked him was that the robbers who took the painting had guns! Oh really? What did he expect them to have? Slingshots? Of course, Norway is pretty socialist and gun control laws are probably the norm. This little incident gives credence to the trite saying "if guns are outlawed, only outlaws will have guns".

Whoever came up with the saying, "Nothing is certain in life except death and taxes," really screwed up. Just think how great it would be for everyone if he had said, "Nothing is certain in life except getting drunk and getting laid."

No, there are 4 things in life that are certain, death, taxes, dirty dishes and laundry! Whoever came up with that saying must have had a wife (or mother) that did all the housework.
