Faith

HI everyone,

I think faith is of two kinds.

1. Blind faith that is based on hearsay, authority, myth, legend and so on. Most people practice this kind of faith based on what is written in some book or taught by some religious leader or elder.

2. Real faith is based on the recognition of an underlying pattern in our lives and the awareness of subtle forces that work in the background. It is actually a knowledge and awareness of subtle forces. This awareness leads to mysticism and intuitive understanding. This could relate to the working of what we now call our subconscious/unconscious mind. Most spiritual and religious teachings originate from such intuitive sources. When this is taken up by followers without a personal understanding of these patterns...it becomes blind faith.

Best wishes.

What is your opinion of Faith....?

High functioning trust and belief?
Or just unwillingness and/or inability to think on your own?

Does faith necessitate "turning your brain off"?
Is it necessarily "ignorant" to confess or believe that there is a person of God that knows more than you do, and that you can not possibly know as much as he does?

If you can think about something, you will! You would need deep psychological binds to keep you from thinking about a concept at the subconscious level. Face facts--humans are worst than cats. Not only are we curious, we thrive to find some inner truth to it as well.

Faith is necessary when we can not draw satisfactory conclusions but an answer is needed to move forward.

Faith is a religious term, it has synonyms in other branches.

The educated guess, Conjecture, Hypothesis, when held to be true, become forms of faith.

If you take the term faith out of the religious context then anyone believing something that patently doesn't exist is delusional.

Faith is just a PC term in the religious context IMO.

Sooner we call religious faith the mental illness it is and force treatment on those claiming such illness, er, faith, sooner the world will get well. So long as we're cursed with religion, we're going to suffer for it.

Up to this point, the world has had religion. Given the general state of things, I'm all for trying to get rid of it.
I think you are up to something there. Homosexual behavior used to be considered as mental illness, now it is not. Times are changing. These changes are not necessarily the right ones though.

THERES NOTHING NEW UNDER THE SUN....
