The writer is obviously an apologist flack for progressives and Keynesian economic voodoo....Most of the linked "fact check" op-ed is GIGO, notably:

At 10:45 Beck states that progressivism was "designed to destroy the Constitution." In fact progressive policies included Constitutional amendments which established, among other things, the direct election of Senators under the 17th amendment. Before that "progressive" policy U.S. Senators were selected by State legislatures who often were controlled by the kind of "party politics" Beck complains about just a minute earlier. The "progressive" policies also included the 19th amendment giving women the right to vote. Progressive woud argue these two measures were designed to protect not destroy the Constitution.

Progressives also gave us the 16th Amendment, the income tax, the Federal Reserve, interventionist foreign wars, and the greatest centralization of power in the New York-D.C. corridor in American history....I guess those piddling little facts don't count, though.

At 47:50 Beck argues that progressives keep changing their names from liberal to progressive to liberal again and so on. In fact the two terms have always been used interchangeably though it is debatable as to whether they mean exactly the same thing in American politics.

And that's pretty much the point....Looks like the author failed to mentioned that the progressive/socialist wing of the Democrat Party stole the term "liberal" in the 1920s, to obfuscate their true proclivities.

That's okay. We know you've never met a fact that you liked....

Here's a little prediction for you guys.......

Remember a few years back when Sally Jesse Raphael, Maury Povitch and Jerry Springer were all trying to out do each other with outrageous shows?

Remember the one where a gay dude came out to a straight dude that he had feelings for him on SJR, which resulted in the straight dude killing the gay dude?

There was a direct connection between her show and the resulting murder.

Now.....we've already seen it happen (kinda) once with the man who killed the abortion doctor in cold blood. We know that media can influence people to do stupid acts.

I'm betting that within the next 6 months (August or September), Beck is going to go way off the grid in outrageous behavior, resulting in someone listening to him and taking it as their personal mission to help "get rid of the sinners".

Admittedly the original post is partisan...albeit true. What's amazing/dumbfounding is that instead of just saying "yeah, he was wrong and he's a hack" people play it off by saying the government should be fact-checked more.

well...duh. Why can't we all agree to work towards a debate about the merits of real ideas instead of being so partisan all the time?

Beacuse each side thinks it would be the end of the world if they admit any transgression, error, or omission by those they support, no matter how ridiculous.

I'm confident that, even if they watched it, they wouldn't get it. Just like they didn't get the joke about the chalkboard. AGaySailor, for example, who clearly didn't get the joke and so it flailing around trying to make it into a 'point'.

Beck lost me when he made this statement, at the very beginning of his rant. (From a transcript of his speech):

Theodore Roosevelt, quote –

Oh? Well thank you.

(reading) It’s not even enough – it’s not even enough that it should have been gained without doing damage to the community. We should permit it only to be gained so long as the gaining represents benefit to the community.

Not the founders' idea of America? Then what was their intent in the Preamble by the inclusive phrase WE THE PEOPLE if not the establishment of a "community" to benefit ALL THE PEOPLE?

What was partisan about the speech? Are you saying that wanting honest politicians, wanting lower taxes, and cutting waste and unconstitutional spending is a partisan issue?

Well, this is interesting.

Beck actually did what you want to happen. He was putting out there, real ideas and asking everyone to work towards solving real issues. What does he get for his trouble? A bunch of lies disguised as a fact check piece and an idiot calling him a racist, hate-monger.

For what? Not agreeing with the progressive party line?

And people wonder why there is no civility in America.

Some people actually LISTENED to Beck's not-so-subtle messages. Bill Bennett was one, a conservative pundit who still has his brain intact.

Here's something that I kinda thought was a bit creepy about his speech.

When he did his revolution/evolution thing he stated that one comes at the point of a gun (revolution), and that one happens slowly over a period of time (evolution). He then stated that the progressives were going to evolve the conservatives out of the political system, and that he didn't want to evolve.

If he hadn't put that "one happens at the point of a gun" before his little diatribe against evolution, I wouldn't be concerned.

But........talk like that is what caused the dude in Austin to crash his plane.
