fact checking beck's cpac speech

You know......because MSNBC was running Olympics, and because CNN was running something else that I wasn't really interested in, I tuned into FAUX Noise right at the beginning of Blech's speech.

It was disturbing.

Yes, that fucking racist hate merchant SHOULD be fact checked. At least then, when he goes on his diatribes about revolution and overthrowing the government, people won't listen to him and crash their planes into buildings in Austin.

The writer is obviously an apologist flack for progressives and Keynesian economic voodoo....Most of the linked "fact check" op-ed is GIGO, notably:

At 10:45 Beck states that progressivism was "designed to destroy the Constitution." In fact progressive policies included Constitutional amendments which established, among other things, the direct election of Senators under the 17th amendment. Before that "progressive" policy U.S. Senators were selected by State legislatures who often were controlled by the kind of "party politics" Beck complains about just a minute earlier. The "progressive" policies also included the 19th amendment giving women the right to vote. Progressive woud argue these two measures were designed to protect not destroy the Constitution.
Progressives also gave us the 16th Amendment, the income tax, the Federal Reserve, interventionist foreign wars, and the greatest centralization of power in the New York-D.C. corridor in American history....I guess those piddling little facts don't count, though.

At 47:50 Beck argues that progressives keep changing their names from liberal to progressive to liberal again and so on. In fact the two terms have always been used interchangeably though it is debatable as to whether they mean exactly the same thing in American politics.
And that's pretty much the point....Looks like the author failed to mentioned that the progressive/socialist wing of the Democrat Party stole the term "liberal" in the 1920s, to obfuscate their true proclivities.

took til post #4 before fallacies went away.

the author definitely has selective memory, but the article does debunk some of the stuff already being spouted about beck's speech.

My gawd, now they are facting checking a persons speech given at a convention.:cuckoo::lol:

I am entertained as hell. Funny shit. We fact check the tv guy and not our politicians. Welcome to dumbed down America.

Maybe you should watch the speech before you decide to fact check it. Tends to help you out better.

I did watch that bunch of crap, and there were several places where Beck was wrong.

Incidentally........thought it was stupid for the crowd to give a round of applause to a blank chalkboard. But...to be expected I guess.

Beck is playing people like a fiddle. The more outrageous he is, the more money he makes. Ignore him and stop writing about him and he will go away.

I'm confident that, even if they watched it, they wouldn't get it. Just like they didn't get the joke about the chalkboard. AGaySailor, for example, who clearly didn't get the joke and so it flailing around trying to make it into a 'point'.:lol::lol::lol:

I don't applaud for the vehicle of information, I applaud the information itself.

Unlike you, I don't sit at the front of my computer gleefully clapping whenever I read some right wing bullshit (more than likely, as self centered as you are, it's your own posts).

But.......whenever I see an opinion I agree with? I thank them and pos rep them. That's the difference.

Apparently, your retarded life support system for a twat that you call a brain doesn't work as well as you thought it did Californication Twit.

I see, you'll rather give applause to teleprompter.

That pilot was a Liberal, quoted Marxism & hated the catholic church.

Fact check your own BS.

The point was that Beck was stating bullshit crap on his speech.

And who put a nickel in you about Austin?

Admittedly the original post is partisan...albeit true. What's amazing/dumbfounding is that instead of just saying "yeah, he was wrong and he's a hack" people play it off by saying the government should be fact-checked more.

well...duh. Why can't we all agree to work towards a debate about the merits of real ideas instead of being so partisan all the time?
