It started innocently for a 17-year-old Sparta girl who became friends with a man on Facebook through someone she knew at work.

But it turned ugly when someone posted a negative message about a mutual friend of the two acquaintances on the social networking site. A heated cyber-argument ensued over several days, culminating Saturday when Angel N. Robles, 20, of Sparta, allegedly threatened to "send someone to slit her throat."

The father of the girl, a student at Sparta High School, saw the online threat and told police. Robles was arrested Monday and charged with a third-degree offense of making terroristic threats.

While Robles, a budding rap artist, is being held in Sussex County Jail on $7,500 bail, his case spotlights what authorities and attorneys call a growing problem that can be difficult to prosecute because of First Amendment concerns.

I don't really see how this is a first amendment issue. A terroristic threat in the state of NJ is a crime.
