38 are to be built in Japan by Mitsubishi, which, if I am not mistaken, marks the FIRST TIME Mitsubishi has built military aircraft since the fucking ZERO!!!

Japan to order 100 more F-35 fighters from US

So much for bringing jobs to the US.
Lockheed Martin is already at max capacity with over 3,000 F-35s on order from 10 different countries. We're also selling Japan the F-22 technology that have been begging us to sell them for over a decade.

What's cool about Japan is that they will probably be our best military ally in the future. They have been dormant since WW2, but bushido is NOT dead. When it's time to fight, we'll be glad to have them on our side.

Aircraft are more assembled than made. Components of more complex planes are often buit in various countries and shipped to the assembly plant in another. Aero is a Czech company where I worked which produces parts for Sikorsky helicopters and leading edges for Airbus. It is too simplistic to say F-35s will be built in Japan.
