You refuse to see the connection between the Rightwing scrapping of oversight and regulation with the rise of corporations doing whatever the hell they want to do, with whomever.

Corporations developed this technology, using taxpayer money in the form of military R&D. You think, now that it's developed and they've been paid once, that they are going to stop? No, they are going to sell the technology wherever they are legally allowed, and in some places where it's unclear if it's allowed. And even if it's not allowed, the fine will be a slap on the wrist, because the Rightwing has reduced fines for all sorts of corporate crimes.
