First off..overtime rule changes that the Bush administration enacted have dramatically changed the way people are worked.

Many new job titles were cooked up to stop paying overtime.

Some new rules include the notion that if you don't work a 40 hour week, because of a holiday, the employer can "bank" that time and use it to get you to work more time without paying you for it.

You can be asked to work 3 13 hour days as opposed to 5 8 hour days.

That's WITH the flat wages that US workers have been facing over the last couple of decades and the 400 to 1 executive to worker compensation.

During that time US workers have been MORE productive and not sharing in the profits.

And those profits are generally going to people that didn't start the company. But were in the right place at the right time.
