I know there aren't A LOT of companies out there that treat their employees so well, we're truly blessed to be there. It's a family owned company that has grown so much they have places now also in the UK, China & Brazil. This is truly a family that cares about their employees. Too bad all companies weren't the same.

You are lucky. And so am I. I work for a Japanese company, and their worker/executive pay ratio is much more reasonable. They only froze us one year, but the raises haven't been nearly as big as they used to be before the melt-down. I do have a pension though. I wish corporate America was as ethical re their employees. I hope to never have to work for an American corporation again. Horrible. It really pains me to see what is happening to the workforce here.

The people that own our company were born and raised in our small town. This is their corporate headquarters. There aren't many companies either that make what we make, and most of our customers are in aerospace (like Boeing), Automotive, Heavy duty trucks, and even some medical stuff (tubing/hoses..etc). So when Automotive took a dump, we did slow down quite a bit and some people got laid off. But with the diversity we have in the diffferent fields it did'nt hurt too bad. In the past year they've called everyone back plus have hired quite a few. But ya...most bigger companies could care less.

I find it interesting when people assume coralaries where there are none to make their case. Your consternation would have to rest on the premise that if your boss' pay went up, yours is supposed to go up as well. That, unfortunately for you, is a falacy. That is simply a perk of taking the risk of running your own business. The value of the skills of the peole that work above you are not neccessarily tied to the value of your skills. If you generate more revenue you can take home more pay as a business owner, or become more efficient you can take home more pay. Doing that instead of reinvesting in the business is a risk of course. But regardless of any of that, none of that inherently makes YOUR skills more valuable to the employer, which is the basis of your pay, not how much your boss makes.
