Excluding Sudan from US-Africa Summit will seriously damage US strategic interests as long as Sudan is excluded.

Fifty African heads of state were sent invitations to the summit, the greatest ever concentration of African leadership in Washington.

In addition to Sudan, Zimbabwes Robert Mugabe, Eritreas Issaias Afeworki and the Central African Republics transitional leader Catherine Samba Panza were also not invited for the three-day meeting focused on building economic ties between the two continents.

Washington was mistaken when it left out Sudan from the list. Sudan is one of the most African and import country in Africa.

It was abnormal that Africa accepts to go to this meeting while one of its very important members was not invited," Sudans Foreign Minister Ali Karti said in comments published Monday by Sudanese newspapers.

If US wants to have economic position in Africa, that will not do because of the influential existence of China as real economic partners in the continent.

US has invited Ethiopia and South Sudan forgetting Sudan has strategic interest with these countries.

Hassan Sati, economic expert said the exclusion of Sudan from the summit tended to isolate it. He however played down the move.

To make things worse, some congressmen has sought to cancel international symposium on the Sudanese author Al-Tayyib Salih (1929-2009) scheduled to be held at Library of Congress 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 4.

The Sudanese writer has nothing to do politics. Literature knows no boundaries. We differ with US, but we read Earnest Hemingway and watch Hollywood movie.

US administration has to separate literature from politics, the universal language between people.

The Sudanese government of Khartoum is a criminal occupier
of African south sudan. In fact it is a colony of Arabia----an
outpost used for thousands of years by arab invaders in the
SLAVE TRADE. The dogs of Khartoum SELF IDENTIFY
as "arabs" They don't belong there----they should go
back to the sand pits of Arabia. Why would the US invite
criminals?
