Teacher's wages are very very low and many pay for their own supplies.
You have to have a special heart to teach our children. We need to invest in the future of our children if we want to keep the good teachers..

Because the city actually knuckled under on the raise issue. Also the union could always keep working during negotiations, public unions do it all the time.

This is a strike, not a lockout, thus the union is the one instigating it.

So since the city is broke and there will be a deficit of 1 billion at the end of the year should not matter because parents can send their kids to charter schools. Can all parents send their kids to charter schools?

Romney is want to let people keep their money they made and hope they reinvest it in America. The union workers are paid in tax dollars and they are killing cities across the country. Their pay should be based on the free market not what they can steal next by holding the city hostage.

Did you read the article? They are the highest paid teachers in the nation. They work 9 months out of the year and average 76,000 before benefits. Add in benefits and we are in the triple figures. Unions are now starting to take hostages and in this case it is the children. The unions are thugs and they are only interested in stealing what they can from the tax payers.

They are the highest paid teachers in the nation and their results are roughly a 50% graduation rate and not so importantly.. THERE IS NO MONEY.
