To be a Liberal, Leftist, Progressive, whatever, one must not only fail to recognize the myriad inconsistencies and failures of the doctrines of that faith....

....but one must steadfastly refuse to admit that evil actually exists as the force that innervates those doctrines, the slaughter of millions under its auspices, notwithstanding.

1. "Just because any religious idea, any idea of any god at all, any flirtation even with a god, is the most inexpressible foulness, particularly tolerantly (and often even favourably) accepted by the democratic bourgeoisie—for that very reason it is the most dangerous foulness, the most shameful “infection.” A million physical sins, dirty tricks, acts of violence and infections are much more easily discovered by the crowd, and therefore are much less dangerous, than the nubile, spiritual idea of god, dressed up in the most attractive “ideological” costumes." Letter from Lenin to Maxim Gorky, Written on November 13 or 14, 1913 Lenin 55. TO MAXIM GORKY

Perhaps the most precise explanation for the Left's hatred of religion is that it reveals that evil exists.

2. But the Left itself knows that evil exists, and sometimes admits it's dedication to same.
Barack Obama got his start as a community organizer in Chicago, saying it was "the best education I ever had, better than anything I got at Harvard Law School." And while he downplays his connections to ACORN, claiming he worked for churches, he was trained by (Saul) Alinsky's Industrial Areas Foundation and then spent years in the 1980s teaching the Alinsky method to others through several Alinsky offshoots such as Project Vote and Developing Communities Project in Chicago.

Barack Obama's mentor was proud of his affiliation with the personification of evil:

"Alinsky dedicated his book to none other than the fallen angel Lucifer, yes that Lucifer, whom he describes as "the first radical known to man who rebelled against the establishment (that would be God) and did it so effectively that he at least won his own kingdom." Webutante: The Late Saul Alinsky, Obama's Radical Community Organizer Inspirer-in-Chief

3. Three stood in the way of world domination by that major iteration of depravity, 'The Evil Empire.'

"Twenty-six months separated the elections of John Paul II and Ronald Reagan, and Margaret Thatcher began her premiership roughly in between. Fewer than three months (to be precise, seventy days) separated Reagan’s election and the attempt on his life by John Hinckley on March 30, 1981. John Paul II narrowly survived an attempted assassination a mere forty-three days later, in May 13. And three years later Thatcher escaped unharmed when an IRA bomb intended to kill her exploded in the Grand Hotel in Brighton on October 12, 1984, killing five people and wounding many others, including her close friend and ally Norman Tebbit.

There is an almost cinematic neatness about this series of crimes. In The Omen or The Exorcist they would be readily explained as the forces of Satan seeking to destroy the apostles of hope before they could do too much good (though a more formulaic film director than God would have insisted that Satan move his attempt on Thatcher’s life up to 1981). This slightly eerie impression is reinforced by the extraordinary narrowness of the escape of all three intended victims. At least two of those intended victims believed that God had intervened to preserve their lives, and guided their later action by the light of that belief."
John O'sullivan, "The President, the Pope, and the Prime Minister: Three Who Changed the World," p.65-66

Today there may be a different seat of, and for, evil.....but it exists, it is powerful, and it need be defeated.

With a body-count of 50 million unborn human beings through abortion over the last 40 years, I'd have to say yes: Liberalism is inherently evil. It far surpasses the evil of Nazi Germany which exterminated 6 million Jews, and is vying for first place place with the Communist ideology, which has exterminated over a hundred million.

You people have no idea what a liberal is, much less what liberalism represents..No surprise, people like you have to make an enemy to justify your illogical operations and deceit..

Tell me how liberal Stalin was....I await the ignorance and poor nomenclature skills of the proletariats......

The only thing I'd add to your post is the inclusion of Liberalism's predecessors....Communism, Nazism, Fascism, Socialism.....

It's the reason why I wrote 'Leftists' in the OP.

Of the assassination attempt on his life on March 30, 1981, Ronald Reagan wrote in his personal diary, “Getting shot hurts. Still my fear was growing because no matter how hard I tried to breathe, it seemed I was getting less and less air. I focused on that tiled ceiling and prayed. But I realized I couldn’t ask for God’s help while at the same time I felt hatred for the mixed up young man who had shot me. Isn’t that the meaning of the lost sheep? We are all God’s children and therefore equally beloved by Him. I began to pray for his soul and that he would find his way back to the fold.”

I think Trump is a forgiving man as well. I think that's one of the reasons the left can't wrap their collective hive brain around him. He can debate people and assert that they are wrong, wrong, wrong...but then turn around the next day and have a pleasant conversation with them and say nice things about them. They see that as hypocritical. I see it as forgiving and Christ-like.

Still waiting to be shown in what ways Stalin was a liberal...Maso, Pol Pot...Hell even for the Tsar of Russia, any Romanov will do...

In many ways, the world today mirrors the one over which three super heroes regained control.
The 70s were a time of revolution, with those marching for evil seemed to be advancing.

"The Soviet Union stood at the peak of its military and political power, its nuclear forces ranged from pole to pole. The globe stood at the brink of World War III, with a final countdown of 25 minutes from launch to total thermonuclear combat.

The Soviet Union led the world with an extraordinary increase in nuclear and conventional arms.

Soviet bombers equipped with nuclear weapons frequently flew off the U.S. coast. Soviet submarines armed with nuclear-tipped missiles prowled off both U.S. coastlines, within 100 miles of the most populated coastal American cities.

In Europe, the Soviets had 10 tank divisions in East Germany alone, backed by another 20 tank divisions poised across the border in Poland and Russia.
All evidence pointed to the Soviet intent to achieve total world domination in every dimension of military power."

The three superheroes who appeared never told the Soviets "we'll be more flexible after our elections."

Ronald Reagan
Pope John Paul II
Margaret Thatcher

And once again we live in a time of military and social revolutions where many fail to see the evil hand that moves them.

The Soviet military was a paper tiger.....there was widespread low moral, especially after the Afghans forced out the mighty Soviets in the 1980's...Yeah some great big bad military, get's beat by local bands of fighters...

  1. “Between 1974 and 1980, while the United States wallowed in post-Vietnam angst, 10 countries had fallen into the Soviet orbit: South Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, South Yemen, Angola, Mozambique, Ethiopia, Nicaragua, Grenada and Afghanistan. Never had the Soviets lost an inch of real estate to the West. The Brezhnev Doctrine stated simply that once a country went Communist, it would stay Communist. In other words, the Soviet empire would continue to advance and gain territory…” "How the East Was Won"
2. The 39th President, Carter, picked up the banner of communism that had been dropped after communism's truest champion, the 32nd President, Franklin Delano Roosevelt, had passed on.

Roosevelt's successor, Harry Truman learned of communism's goals and nature via the Venona Papers, and soon reversed Roosevelt's obedience to Joseph Stalin.

Ronald Reagan, number 40, trampled on communism's banner, and rolled back the gains that Roosevelt had bequeathed the Bolsheviks.

And he did so without firing a shot.

Now...the 'wisdom' of Jimmy Carter:

1. Jimmy Carter began his presidency at Notre Dame with a speech that included “…We are now free of that inordinate fear of Communism which once led us to embrace any dictator who joined us in our fear.”

Democrats never seem to either recognize evil, nor have a problem with it.

I posted the OP on Sunday, in the Religion forum, with forethought.

Continuing on the theme....

In 1917 Moscow, there were some 600 religious communities....by 1939, only 20.
"The Dictators," Richard Overy, p.274

1. "....the Soviet regime looked for ways to force the churches to accept the existence of the new order and to acknowledge their political subordination to it. In 1922....the churches were ordered to hand over all of their sacred treasures, including the chalices and vestments used for the holy sacrament.

The stated then seized the objects by force in the course of the expropriation over 8,000 clergy were killed and there were more than 1,400 violent clashes.....

The regime staged fifty-five trials of recalcitrant clergy.....executed a number of prominent churchmen... p. 272-273

2. From 1929 onwards the ideological war against religion was intensified using crude inspiration slogans: ' beat religion the head every day of your life.'
"A History of Marxist-Leninist Atheism and Soviet Antireligious Policies (History of Marxist-Leninist Atheism & Soviet Antireligious P)" by Dimitry Pospielovsky, p. 34

“…We are now free of that inordinate fear of Communism...."
Jimmy Carter

Is it a coincidence that Democrats/Liberals have awarded the world with
the Soviet Union,
Red China,
the Korean War and North Korea,
Iran,
and the Viet Nam conflict?

What a prize package the Democrats are.

History doesn't repeat itself, but it rhymes....as Twain supposedly said.

Today we are confronted by the sorts of social revolutions that Obama left us with, and a Middle Eastern Evil Empire.

A mirror image of this:

John O’Sullivan,
[author of The President, the Pope, And the Prime Minister: Three Who Changed the World]
embarks on a recitation of the “revolutions of every kind- sexual, religious, political, economic, social,” as the three leaders were still not yet in the positions necessary for the potential of their synergy. Sexual liberation, feminism, abortion rights, the attempt to reconcile faith with secular forms of “liberation,” the rise of labor unions, the entrenchment of the welfare state- and its expansion from Europe to America, the new “clout” of the United Nations and, of course, the rise of communism- all awaited the three leaders.

“This new order might have been called Liberaldom,” writes O’Sullivan. “Wojtyla, Thatcher, and Reagan all embodied such fading virtues as faith, self-reliance, and patriotism–which the modern world seemed to be leaving behind.” Thatcher, Reagan, John Paul: What Real 'Hope and Change' Looked Like - Breitbart

It's the reason a non-politician, non-Liberal was elected.....for the same reasons as the last time: to fight evil.

1. An interesting peek into the thinking of two Presidents, Reagan and Obama, proves what each hoped to accomplish.

In Reagan's case, he recognized the evil of the Soviet Union and of communism, and embarked on a peaceful mechanism to aid in its downfall. In addition to intensifying both economic and military competition, used has skill as a communicator without par:

a. In 1982, in his speech to the British parliament, he predicted that communism was destined to be shortly 'on the ash-heap of history.'

b. In his 1983 speech to the National Association of Evangelicals, he described the Soviet Union as 'an evil empire.'

"....those speeches had a vital effect in weakening Soviet morale and encouraging dissidents throughout the Soviet bloc....He believed he had been spared by God for some great purpose that surely did not include sugarcoating the truth about totalitarianism."
John O'sullivan, "The President, the Pope, and the Prime Minister: Three Who Changed the World," p.89

2. Compare this to Barack Obama, who embraced and supported evil early on in his political career.

Barack Obama's mentor was Saul Alinsky, proud of his affiliation with the personification of evil:

"Alinsky dedicated his book to none other than the fallen angel Lucifer, yes that Lucifer, whom he describes as "the first radical known to man who rebelled against the establishment (that would be God) and did it so effectively that he at least won his own kingdom." Webutante: The Late Saul Alinsky, Obama's Radical Community Organizer Inspirer-in-Chief

3. When Obama had the chance to do what Reagan did, and use his speaking skills to oppose evil....in this case the Iran, designated by the State Department as a 'state sponsor of terrorism,' he did nothing:

"... in the summer of 2009, after the dubious election of Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, Iranians began an uprising. They hoped for support of some kind from the United States. That that support didn’t come.

Behind the scenes, Obama overruled advisers who wanted to do what America had done at similar transitions from dictatorship to democracy, and signal America’s support. He ordered the CIA to sever contacts it had with the green movement’s supporters....

Egypt’s Mubarak was America’s staunchest ally in the Middle East other than Israel. Iran was (and is) our biggest enemy. Yet, Obama supported the overthrow of Mubarak but not the mullahs." Why Obama turned his back on the 'green revolution' in Iran

Instead....Obama and his party have made certain that Iran will have nuclear weapons.
