It's not necessarily that all rich are bad, or all poor are good, or anything like that.

Rather, the rich control things, because we've let them do it, and agree to their control. And what happens when you give up control to the rich. Why, they rig everything in their favor to become richer!

Look, I'm just telling you people the way it is. I'm not much of a socialist, I'm more of a free marketer. But if we had a genuinely free market, the rich wouidn't be nearly as rich as they are, because even they would be subject to market discipline.

But everything is now rigged to keep the rich richer. There is no clearing out, they don't lose money anymore. True! Absolutely true.

How would the free market restrain wealth?

"The Rich" is way too broad a category. There's inheritance rich, business owner rich, political rich, corporate rich, wall street rich, hollywood rich, athlete/entertainer rich and I probably missed a few. Most of those can and do lose and some lose everything. Johnny Derp is a recent example.

What a stupid, uninformed posting.

I wonder how this person figures The Rich got that way. As a general proposition, one becomes rich by providing goods, services, or intellectual property to willing purchasers at a price they are willing to pay.

Are Walmart customers coerced into shopping there? Are we tricked into buying Microsoft products, or i-Phones?

You got the order wrong - We gave control to people and they used the power/control to get rich, because pretty much everyone would rather have more than less. Look at the corrupt political class in any inner-city or on an indian reservation or some religions. They are lining their pockets not because they were born rich or earned wealth (Sharpton, Jackson, Clinton) but because suckers gave them control.

To me that is much more offensive than an entrepreneur who got rich building a business empire (Oprah, Jobs, Gates).
