We are already paying for health care costs of the uninsured through an unmanaged blank check system of government which is a complete failure. Thus bill manages that give away with the insurance companies administering the benefits.
That might save some $ but not enough for the others that will qualify for the give away.
The ridiculous part of this is it is the typical means test of "income" just like the give away free lunch for kids program. If you have 3 kids in school you qualify if you make 60K a year.
And this means income test for subsidized health insurance premiums is what? 1 1/2 times the poverty level.
So what we will have is folks making 65K a year with 3 kids getting tax subsidized health insurance. An absurd program this is.
And it gets better. Have LITTLE OR NO income and live in a mansion and the assets DO NOT COUNT.
The means test is income only, not assets.
A fucked up bill this is. They could have gotten it right.
