Pope Francis: fake and sensationalised news 'a very serious sin'

"Pope Francis has criticized journalists who dredge up old scandals and sensationalize the news, saying it’s a “very serious sin” that hurts all involved.

Francis, who plans to dedicate his upcoming annual communications message to “fake news”, told Catholic media on Saturday that journalists perform a mission that is among the most “fundamental” to democratic societies.

But he reminded them to provide precise, complete and correct information and not to provide one-sided reports.

The pope said: “You shouldn’t fall into the ‘sins of communication:’ disinformation, or giving just one side, calumny that is sensationalize, or defamation, looking for things that are old news and have been dealt with and bringing them to light today.”

He called those actions a “grave sin that hurts the heart of the journalist and hurts others”.

Are you sure he was not referring to Sean Hannity and Laura Ingraham on Fox. They seem to be stuck on Uranium One and Clinton emails.

Nowhere in the OP's link does Pope Francis refer to any specific news agency. Claiming that the Pope was specifically talking about CNN as "fake news" is kinda fake in and of itself.

You're not supposed to change what the Pope actually said.

Uranium One is a legitimate concern in my opinion, as is Norsat International Inc. Another Canadian company being sold to the Chinese which represents as much a risk to U.S National Security as the Uranium One "lookaway" that the Canadian police engaged in.

I suggest you look up the details of Norsat International and ask me why I am gung ho about exposing the Canadian authorities...

Even the Pope doesn't lie about what he said.

Leave it to conservatives to lie about what the Pope says.
