US dont have a welfare-state with their "sink or swim" system. Immigration is positive for US becaues they dont give them any welfare. In Europe the governments are going bakrupt because they consume to much of the welfare.
If Europe didnt have welfare states, they would not be that hostile towards immigration.

Some of the new immigration laws passed in UK, Netherlands, Switzerland, Denmark, etc would be labelled a racist in America. In Switzerland, for low skilled jobs, employers must give preference to national and european citizens over non-europeans. Even the European Union has banned massive amnesties in any member state.

No, European welfare states are collapsing because of low birth rates and fast aging. Opening borders for poor non-skilled immigrants just makes things worse.

The US population grows by 3 million people a year: +60 million in last 20 years. So it only takes 3 years to add as many people as those living in Sweden. I find it funny when US left-wingers say that this would be compatible with a european style welfare state.

US dosent have a european-like welfare system. US spends all their money on military instad of welfare.
US only spends 14.8% of their GDP on welfare. European countries spend 25-40% on welfare. Canada your neigbor spends 23% on welfare. Food stamps and no-medical treatment aint comparable to european and canadian welfare.
The americans has always been jelous, because Europe and Canada have better welfare than US. But keep on spending 700 billion $ on military a year, and complain about high welfare spending. One suggestion for you before you complain about the immigrants that consumes welfare, cut the military first they consume much more.
