EU and quotas

Watching the morning news, and they were discussing how many European countries have quotas in hiring women. Apparently the entire EU is looking to pick up quotas for publicly traded companies, that any publicly traded company must have a board of no less than 40% women.

My question, if the EU does enact this quota, do you think American businesses will feel pressure to add more women?

People should be hired based on ability alone and nothing else. Quotas should be illegal in every form. Stop putting wedges between people.

Quotas are popular in many countries. I don't see them making quotas illegal. Although I agree, quotas don't have a place in our society anymore.
