EPA proposes stricter standards for soot pollution | US National Headlines | Comcast

Risking an election-year backlash from Republicans, the Obama administration is proposing new air quality standards to lower the amount of soot that can be released into the air.

The move, to be announced Friday, is likely to win support from environmental groups and public health advocates but exposes the president to potential criticism from congressional Republicans and industry officials that the rules are overly strict and could hurt economic growth and cause job losses in political swing states such as Ohio and Pennsylvania.

Perhaps wary of the rule's political risk, the administration had sought to delay the new soot standards until after the November elections. But a federal judge ordered officials to act after 11 states filed a lawsuit seeking a decision this year by the Environmental Protection Agency

What an idiot, all this crap , yet he cannot keep his ass out of air force one for more than a day at a time ,spewing jet fuel all the country.....:cuckoo:

Must. Shut Down. All. American. Industry. Or put a cork up it's azz right?

Meanwhile China opens 2 or 3 new coal powered plants a week.

I wonder, if we export all our production to Mexico, will all these wonderful, productive young criminals move back there? Although, I doubt Mexico has the same ridiculous production-killing regulations. And soot, etc, does not respect national borders any more than the human detritus that wanders over our borders.

no worries here........incumbents under 50% never win in the general...........no policy making via fiat after November 6th. None that wont get crushed after January of next year anyway..........

Liberals.......burying the American dream one regulation at a time......but after November, the shit is going to be mothballed for two generations.

so u think pollution and death are good things you must be a retard. overall the new standards save 84$ for every dollar they cost

Maybe if Obama'd shut his piehole once in a while, maybe there wouldn't be so much soot in the air.

He pollutes the air when he talks more then any coal plant in America.

Bottom line on all this and known by the public.............

If the environment were 99.9999999% pure, the k00ks would still be angry and miserable. This is why they get the label "extremist". If you dont agree with them, then you are physically shoving poisonous toxins down the throats of your family members.:eusa_dance::eusa_dance:

Thankfully in America, most people do factor in having to answer the two critical questions no environmental extremist wants to have to answer:

1) As compared to what?

and

2) At what cost?

Most people think on the margin...........not the k00ks.:D The inate inability to fail to comprehend necessary tradeoffs in life will always keep them on the fringe of the political spectrum.

Can you name a single person who has died because of soot?

Anyone who believes EPA cost/benefit figures only proves what a gullible idiot he is.

Gotta love these 'Conservatives'. Always the first to rise in defense of pollution.

zero pollution is a goal that only morons believe to be desirable.

Before adopting any regulation an intelligent person always asks "what is the cost?" Wackos like you, on the other hand, never ask.

Reduction in soot will effect one industry significant.....trucking.

Right now big trucks get a serious pass on spewing filth into the air.

Heres another dope who never factors in the question............

At what cost?

To these dolts, all this standards stuff is a zero sum game. To the rest of us, we're not all that enamoured with the prospect of paying $10 for a bag of 3 bannanas because some k00k wants to see the exhaust from trucks to turn shades from black to dark grey.:poke::D

California accepted the work of a researcher who paid $1000 for his PhD over the work of more established academics. the professor with 35 years experience who blew the whistle on this scandal was fired. ugly but true in the world of green and climate science.
