The Environmental Protection Agency is expected to act for the first time to regulate carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases, The New York Times reported on Wednesday, citing senior Obama administration officials.

EPA Administrator Lisa Jackson has asked her staff to review the latest scientific evidence and prepare documentation for a finding that greenhouse gas pollution endangers public health and welfare, the newspaper said.

There is wide expectation that Jackson will act by April 2, the second anniversary of a Supreme Court decision that found that EPA has the authority to regulate greenhouse pollution under the U.S. Clean Air Act.

wait for it,, here it comes,,, increased costs for energy,,and everything else,, loss of jobs jobs jobs...

sucks to be a libwal!

Here it comes, damned idiot conservatives defending the Saudi right to suck the US dry. Stupid asses, they would far rather send all our money overseas than get off their lazy butts and build the grid that would pick up the abundant and free power right here in the US.

But to do that, we would have to spread the wealth arround a bit. Couldn't just have it all going to the present oligarchs. And that is a very bad thing, in a conservative eye. Them damned lazy wheat farmers might get a few tens of thousands of dollars in thier pockets, instead of in the pockets of the CEOs of the energy corperations.

The Obama admin is going with real science. Good for them.

Hey! DUMBAzzz why would we have to pay Saudi Arabia???? Guess???? Cause you DUMBazz democrats won't let us drill our own oil or burn our own coal.. IDIOTS par excellance...

So if I'm reading this right, Ms. Jackson has told her staff which result she wants BEFORE they have actually taken a look at "the latest data". Didn't we just get rid someone who did something very similar to that? Also, I'm glad they're "going after" carbon-dioxide, they've just proven how colossally ignorant they really are. Go EPA!!!! Teach that nasty carbon-dioxide a lesson!!!!

Huh!!?
Average Coal Miner - $66,600
Chief Engineer - $98,300
Chief Geologist - $81,800
Environ Coordinator - $78,900
Mine Engineer - $71,000
Mine Geologist - $68,000
Environmental Technician - $41,400

It appears that part of Obama’s agenda is to destroy jobs rather than create them. Where will these guys go to work…?

In the areas where these mines are located, these are the best and about the only jobs to be had.

You and old rockhead are two peas in a pod ....

Thanks.

What we need is a project for American energy independence, not whinning about CO2 regulations. But the right wingnut echo chamber never stops. It is relentless.

Electric cars and natural gas trucks are what we need.

Screw the Arabs.

rockhead...you know, and I know that here is no free energy with our government. So don't try to outright lie to people about that. Also, I don't care how much the CEO's are making. No matter what they were paid in your world...it wouldn't add one more dollar to my pocket. So don't try and start class warfare. Grow up man !!! Show a little dignity !!!

Where will this electricity come from to power these electric cars? It will place more demand on power plants just when Obama policies will be driving up the cost of electricity. This might be different if Obama was willing to speak up for nuclear power plants, but he has failed to do that.

Business vehicles in fleets have been powered by LP-gas for 35 years. Wonder whey they haven't caught on? Could it be because the simple metering systems to capture the highway taxes have prevented that happening?

BTW the Ds in congress have made done nothing to encourage exploiting America's natural gas resources. The reason; Burning natural gas produces carbon dioxide as a pollutant, even though less so than burning oil or coal. Next to coal it is our greatest resource but there is resistance to extracting it because it is still another carbon based non-renewable source of energy.

Obama says "Let's not make the perfect the enemy of the essential," in regards to the Stimulus bill. So why not apply that to energy too?
