Environmentalists forced Deepwater Drilling?

That is of course preposterous enough to dismiss without comment, but, what the hell, let's pile on some.

The Royalty Boondoggle

(published February 2010)

In 1995, when oil prices were very low, Congress tried to encourage deep-water drilling in the Gulf of Mexico by giving oil companies relief from some of the royalties they incur for producing oil and gas on public land.

It has never been clear how much new exploration this provision inspired, since steadily rising prices provided plenty of incentive. What is clear is that it has been a good deal for the industry and a bad deal for taxpayers. According to the Government Accountability Office, the provision could allow industry to escape up to $54 billion in legitimate royalties, depending on the price of oil.

And many in the Congress are forevermore beholden to the Enviro-whackos...better known as Wayward Commies since the Soviet Fell...

If the damned business is taking resources owned by the people, as those drilling on government land, BLM, National Forest, ect. are, then they damned well better be paying a royalty.

Way to just make shit up there old socks......

Who took resources from you? Can you drill the oil and refine it on your own? Can you do that and be able to follow all the regulations required by the government?

Ya see thats the problem with your reactionary and ideological bullshit.. It doesn't hold up under the scrutiny of the real world...

Fact is you use oil and its products just like the rest of us... Got a cell phone? A PC? A car?.... if you use any of those things you are in the very least as guilty as anyone else, so climb down off the cross martyr boy... you are not without sin nor are you honest enough to earn the title...

A ideology is only as good as its own behavior in action. All the high talk and goody two shoes bullshit isn't worth shit if you will lie, cheat, and do whatever it takes to push your nonsense on people.

Norway?!?!?!?

I'd ask if you were serious, if I didn't already know that you were!

...speaking of pre-emptive!

Tell us why we shouldn't get 50% in royalties when other countries, not to mention our own states, can?

Entertain us with a brilliant rationale for that.
Norway is a friggin' cradle-to-grave socialistic welfare/nanny nation, fruitcake!...Oil production is a full-on operation of the state!

Norway....ROFLMFAO!

And if you're not tired of looking stupid, how about you try the other 4 examples in my post?

Start with ALASKA. lol

That does not make dude's assertion wrong at all... Norway picks and chooses what areas it will drill for its own use, and how.. it also chooses who they will lease any of the property or areas to as well.... We do that here as well... Remember BP? yeah big old spill in the gulf... That was leased...

What an absolutely dumb fuck you and Doodeee... are Suckee...

All the rigs in the North Sea have to toe the mark to much tougher regulations than we currently have in the Gulf. And the Norse have a higher standard of living than we do.

yeah I am a real buzz kill for all you pseudo-science faithful stooges aren't I... Hard to push propaganda when some jerk comes and uses logic to bust it all to hell.....

Norway's drilling regulations are the most stringent in the world, and had we had similiar rules, the Gulf catastrophe would not have happened.

Greenland to Canada: don't worry, our offshore drilling rules best in world - Brandon Sun

We are also following and monitoring what is going on in the Gulf of Mexico and are very concerned about this," said Kleist, who was in Edmonton for an international conference on the Arctic.

"The way we will try to prevent such a thing from happening in our area — if we find oil — is to have the standards of the Nordic countries, where you have very high standards on the environment and the technology used."

Greenland's drilling regulations are based on Norway's, which has some of the highest standards in the world, Kleist said.

Study in Norway/Living in Norway/

For the last four years the United Nations (UN) has ranked Norway as having the highest standard of living in the world. This annual ranking is based largely on average levels of education and income, combined with expected length of lifetime, but also factors like human rights and cultural freedom. Norway is weighed high for its high literacy rate in addition to educational levels and material wealth.
