ellen gives scholarship and prom to girls affected by bible thumping bigotry

The good thing is that Ellen is free to do whatever she wishes with her money. That, to me, is the essence of the American spirit. As for how she wishes to spend it, I think the bigger issue here is that Ellen has used it to further the education of a person rather than the fact that this person is gay. Again, it's Ellen's choice how she spends her money and who she spends it on.

As for bible-thumping, I think there's more to it than that. Ignorance stems from many different sources. Blaming it solely on religion is pretty narrow-minded and stupid.

I agree with you. Most of the people I know that do object to homosexuality are good people and do not want to cause trouble. They do not say faggot and would not have stopped this prom. They state they believe homosexuality is wrong and leave it at that.
I disagree with them but they have a right to that opinion. A good friend of mine is that way and a fine person. Ignorance is not just in religion for sure as evidenced here.

8. Alan Keyes. A champion for the pro-family message, this Harvard Ph.D. and prominent black conservative is an expert on constitutional theory and an unrelenting critic of [Alleged] President Obama’s radically liberal and socialist policies. Mr. Keyes’ views are based solely upon America’s founding principles that he unabashedly recognizes as tied to the Biblical truths that our Founders understood. Mr. Keyes speaks three languages and spent 11 years with the U.S. State Department. Americans need to start listening to Mr. Keyes.

Ten Men Who Set A Positive Example [includes Alan Keyes]

Maya Keyes, daughter of Alan Keyes came out and was tossed into the street, a college student who was financially cut off by her parents, was given scholorashp by the "Point Foundation".

they come from conservative families that haven't immediately accepted them. Candidates must write an essay on "how you feel you have been marginalized because of your sexual orientation." When scholars were called upon to introduce themselves at the retreat, many offered heartbreaking stories of family repudiation. It was routine to hear sniffling during these presentations, especially from adults.

You know that such a glowing account of an odious man (Keyes) who kicked his own daughter to the curb could only come from a right wing group. They always call "evil" good.

It's not ignorance. It's a different way of seeing the same issue. Everyone who has a different opinion than you is not necessarily ignorant. They see the same things, weigh the information and come to a completely different conclusion than you do.

This particular ignorant yahoo knows more than you about the biology of gayness, the life style, the particular issues and I still think the school was right to stick to the code. This is the line, don't cross it. If it's a problem, take yourself somewhere that puts the line in a different place.

I love how all these "teens" decide they're gay, mostly girls. Real sincere stuff right there. No, wait, just kids trying to ape the version of what's "cool" as presented by our masters.

Do you hold the same view concerning “teens” who think that they are straight? Also, whose masters are you talking about?
