Elizabeth Warren: 'End Electoral College'

Why should a states electors go against the majority of a state?
Because people should be the electors, not sage brush and cattle. Our most populous state has 70 X more people than our least populated state but their EC ratio is 18:1. Why should people be penalized for living in a more desirable state? The Founders are way over rated. In what other contest is the #2 finisher declared the winner?

That's the whole point!

I blame social promotions, the entire Left needed to repeat 6th grade civics class

1. The voters in each state decide on who gets their EVs
2. The state population is the state population and their representation and EVs are prescribed. Stop whining.
3. The Founders were amazing.
4. The EC decides the winner, always has, always will.

The problem with the electoral college is that Republicans found a way to manipulate it. I get the complaints about it but were we to fix that they'd simply find another way to fix elections (because there are simply not enough Republicans to win except in regionals areas and even there ,usually by use of gerrymandering).

But the wing nuts are correct. It would take an Amendment.

good point

Candidate Smith wins 75% of the votes in a state we'll call New France.
Candidate Jones gets 20%

Candidate Jones wins the nationwide vote.

Under the plan someone posted earlier, Candidate Jones gets all the electoral votes from New France.

Candidate Jones wins

Still fair?

BTW, sagebrush and cattle dont' vote)

how are republicans manipulating it?

STATES elect Presidents, NOT PEOPLE. Read the Constitution. So yes, land mass matters.

Microtargeting....that's how they managed to win all the electoral votes in three heavily populated states by a mere 80,000 votes total

Nobody wants "open borders". Stop lying

The Democrat's official position is for AMNESTY for ILLEGAL Aliens. Therefore there is no penalty for coming here illegally which promotes more illegal aliens. That is effectively OPEN BORDERS.

So, once again, you are wrong, Stop lying.

Reason #596843 Hilary lost.

BOTH parties do it.

Hillary should have spent more time in those states.

Republicans have been using all sorts of tactics to manipulate the vote....usually with voter suppression as the biggest tool. If we all vote...they lose. Their biggest weapon is low voter turnout. They know their base will turn out. They always do. But there's simply not enough of them so they need to keep voter turnout low.

They began doing this heavily in the 2000 election notably in Florida where they paid an outside company to "purge" the voter rolls...and gee...that third party company made all sorts of "mistakes" and purged tens of thousands (some reports say hundreds of thousands) of legal registered voters from the voter rolls.. and those voters just "happened" to be predominantly Dem voters.

That effort has been replicated all across the country.

We now see that in North Carolina they cheated so blatantly regarding "harvesting" absentee ballots that a House election had to be thrown out.

The whole "voter ID" thing was another way to suppress the vote. People who had been legal voters their entire lives were suddenly not allowed to vote. But THAT effort is fading as the number of people who don't have picture IDs etc. age out. Of course since that is becoming less effective they shift to other methods of voter suppression because they HAVE to in order to win elections

Simplistic And inaccurate

As far as "they both do it" the Republicans got it down to a SCIENCE...with a little help from Cambridge Analytica, Putin, and Facebook
