If you see one --- remind the owner that YOU paid for his car too...

Can't wait til the govt drops the hammer and starts taxing "excess consumption" of electricity. That's a large motivation behind "smart grid". You didn't think they'd kiss all that gas tax goodbye didya?

Interesting. The hybrids and electrics are the wave of the future. The owning of a car that runs partly on electricity, such as the C-Max Energi, will make solar very practical for the home owner. A quick payback on an investment that not only provides power for the home, but fuel for tranportation.

The concept of 'investment' is truly lost on some people. Why educate people when you can put them in the mines today.

fAiL..........

Go look up any graph on the sale of hybrids over the last 3 years and tell me they are the wave of the future.:2up:

Who built the highway system?
Who built the telegraph system?
Who built and layed most of the telephone wires that connects our nation
Who built the rail-road?
Who got us to the moon?
Who created the internet?

Think about it!

Hybrid Market Dashboard | Hybrid Cars

Hybrid sales reached 2.9 percent of total North American sales, the highest level since April. While the Prius hybrid continues to pace the segment, the Camry hybrid continues to perform well at over 10 percent of Camry sales, with annual sales in the range of 45,000.
The Prius c, v and Liftback had total sales of over 20,000, in line with sales reached in the spring, when gas prices were at high levels. An increase in gas prices in August is no doubt a major part of the increase. The take rate was actually brought to a full 3.0 percent after HybridCars.com reader, Yegor, pointed out a transcript from Toyota's monthly sales call mentioning what some analysts had initially missed, that the Lexus ES Hybrid launched last month. The new Lexus hybrid got off with a strong start of 817 units, and Toyota says ES Hybrid sales are expected to ascend the sales number rank order in coming months.

The Toyota Prius breakdowns are accurate as we were able to get the numbers even though Toyota does not officially break these Prii models out. Also the Tesla Model S is a new addition and be advised, Tesla numbers are only estimated, because Tesla Motors – as is the case for Fisker Automotive and Coda Automotive – also does not publish monthly numbers. The Model S recorded is only the 85-kilowatt-hour model, as the 60-kwh and 40-kwh are not being delivered until the first 1,200 top-line models go to the first buyers (Tesla does not offer a lease).

MoneyWatch) Hybrid and electric cars, contrary to their usual trend, have continued strong sales even as gas prices have fallen. With gas more than 50 cents per gallon below its peak earlier this year, hybrid and electric sales still surged by 164 percent in June, according to Kelley Blue Book.

But not all electrics performed equally. Vehicles with a back-up gasoline engine like the Chevrolet Volt sold strongly, while pure electrics such as the Nissan Leaf lagged. General Motors sold 1,760 Volts in June and 8,817 for the first half of the year -- a 221% increase -- while the Nissan Leaf sold 535 in June and 3,148 in the first half of 2012

Electric Car & Hybrid Car Sales up 164% in June

(excerpts)
No matter the roller coaster ride gas prices take us on, or perhaps due to it, consumers are steadily purchasing hybrid and electric vehicles. Highlights of the last year in electric and hybrid cars include a 164% increase in June 2012 sales, compared to June 2011. Folks at Kelley Blue Book expect hybrid and electric vehicle (EV) sales to slow a bit — but not nosedive — as gas prices decline. Movers and shakers in the alternative-energy car category include Lexus and Chevrolet. The Blue Book Market Report highlights a 500% increase in sales of the Lexus CT200h year-over-year. The Chevy Volt had a 200% year-over-year increase in sales. The Volt may be more popular because of its longer driving range — 379 miles; however, the Volt is not entirely electric, a sticking point for some of the EV hardliners. Toyota had a big year with its Prius, as well. Alec Gutierrez, senior market analyst of automotive insights for Kelley Blue Book, said Prius sales surged “more than 300 percent from June of last year. The Prius has been in high demand since the introduction of the subcompact Prius c and wagon-esque Prius v. Sales numbers for the Prius look especially strong due to the inventory shortages that plagued Toyota at this time last year.”

As I am always fond of saying.........far left guys ALWAYS leave out the "Compared to what?" part of the equation. Thats why ALL OF THEIR LINKS throw out these magical numbers like "increase of 164%!!". But its never placed in context by any of these k00ks. Mental cases like Rolling Thunder can say he went on Viagra and his dick grew 1000%........but if the babe laughs her ass off when its exposed, it begs the question, "As compared to what?":D:D:D

sk00ks presents the real deal data ( See above). Clearly displays the epic fail of HEV sales since 2007. In fact.........its a fucking joke.:2up:. Nobody wants these gay cars.

Hmmm........ 36K out of 15 million in 2002. Thus far in 2012, 106k out of 3.5 million. So, if by the end of the year, they sell 15 million vehicles, and that ration remains, that would be about 425 k. And increase of a factor of 10 in a period of a decade. In spite of being higher in price.

Not bad. And, as the prices come down, an increasing share of the market.

No way you can lump EVs with Hybrids. One's an affordable car with viable specs. The other is a expensive gimmick without a purpose.

Hybrids are a wonderful progression to ICE design. And they will define future vehicle design because of efficiency. GM blew it because they LEAPED to a plug-in model before they had a successful Hybrid Sedan design. (Got GM stock? Of course you do.)

So --- I'll just avoid any alley fight that lumps these 2 together..

LOL. Think that you will define technological developement, Flatulance? The development of the plug in hybrid will drive the development of a battery that will make the ev a viable vehicle. And the decrease in the cost of having one's own electricial generation will make that vehicle a must have for most home owners. Under $10K for a 5+ kw solar system is available right now.

You keep saying that. But charging your car from SOLAR is a non-starter. Your car is gonna charge from the grid. If you want to go into the solar biz to subsidize your poor economic choices. Be my guest...

Go ask Nissan about charging the Leaf from a solar panel..... It's not in manual for good solid technical reasons...
