Electric blankets...

Get a Down comforter.

It's not only puffy...it's fluffy.

Here where I live we had frost for 3 days in a row last week. Wednesday, Thursday and Friday to be exact. So, what has happened? Out comes the damned electric blanket. The wife has put the electric blanket on the bed and I won't be able to get her to take it off the bed until maybe next May. She puts her side on broil and I never turn my side on but yet it is magically turned on the next morning when I wake up - sweating. I look over at the wife and Nellie, the beagle, both of whom look like somebody needs to stick a fork in 'em and turn them over so they will cook on the other side. The real kicker is that for the last two days the temps have been in the 80's. I believe the person who invented the electric blanket should be given a tar and feather party and promptly run out of town on a rail. Who is in agreement?
Tell the bitches to sleep on the couch..............unless she pays the bills

I use flannel sheets, get the extra heavy ones they are much softer. Two regular blankets, two down blankets a bed spread and a comforter. If it gets really cold we throw a down comforter on top of that.. I like the weight.

My electric blanket has a (Low 1 - 10 High) dial setting.

A couple of hours before retiring. Turn it on and set it around #7

It really warms up the bed quite nicely.

Then when I retire for bed. I set it at #3

Any higher than that and it get's too hot.

How funny. I am just the opposite. I can't stand to feel weighted down. It will even give me leg cramps..

I have a California King, waveless, waterbed set at 95 degrees, it's covered with a light down comforter. I never turn on the central heat, and open up the north window in the bedroom. Easily the most comfortable bed I have ever slept in.

What's the diff in a Cali King and regular King...I forget.

Lose the fire hazard an uncomfy wires.

You need a ginormous down-filled comforter.
I agree. A down comforter can be used in any weather.

This thread is an eye-opener. I didn't realize they still made electric blankets--I thought they were an old item from the 50's. People used to buy them when I was a kid, but I had no idea they were still around.

I'm not a fan of electric blankets, but do adore my toasty toes foot warmer at the end of the bed on a cold night.
Ditto! Love that little heating pad.

Also, try putting a hair dryer under the covers when getting in bed on a cold night for two or three minutes of almost erotic pleasure.

I like sleeping in a cold room while nice and warm under the covers. And the hair dryer takes care of the morning chill.

Life's little pleasures.

Funny electric blanket story.

We were spending the night at a friends house...and i was ROASTING and turned my side to low. My husband was FREEZING and turned his up all the way! It turns out the controls were on the wrong sides...so i was freezing him and he was roasting me.

Heated mattress pads are nice too. But I'm a big fan of flannel sheets and my own personal bed warmer. :D

Flannel sheets are yucky... They are worse than electric blankets. Personal bed warming is a routine service provided by the "Big Black Dog Bed Time Assistance Company." Look us up and give us a try. The number is in the phone book!
