The £90k electric bike of the future launched today.

.
Built by a team of engineers in Coventry, it has a flyweight carbon structure, performance parts lifted directly from MotoGP and uses an electric power cell that produces 399 units of voltage.

That means it can rip from stationary to 62mph in 3.1 seconds and onto a top speed of 120mph for a 'realistic range' of 200 miles.

But more impressive is that it comes with a jacket that alerts the rider to dangers around them and a helmet that projects vital information, such as their speed, revs and a rear view camera, on the visor to make you feel like Iron Man on a bike.

Out of reach for most of us but these trailblazers usually herald other offers. Is the age of petrol drawing to a close ?

"Is the age of petrol drawing to a close"

Nope. More oil, gas, and coal today than there ever was. Thank God, or else how would you charge the batteries on that crotch-rocket?

A realistic range of 200 miles? That ain't bad at all. Most bikes have a range of 150 to 250 miles, depending on the model and what size gas tank you have.

If you can charge it in an hour or two, that would actually be something I would consider, if the price comes down a bit.

But that feature that uses the jacket to tell you about hazards, and having a HUD in the helmet that has a rear view mirror and tells you speed? Outstanding.

Not a bad looking ride either. I could see myself on one of those.
