Funny that the left used to dismiss Eisenhower as a golf playing know-nothing and now he is their favorite republican by default simply because they hate Reagan and Nixon is out of the question. Ike was a Military man who was willing to sacrifice as many men as it took to gain a foothold in Europe during WW2. Take that anyway you want. The "infrastructure" construction the left is currently raving about, the Interstate System, wasn't a make-work project. There was plenty of work. It was part of the Cold War Military plan to make sure Americans could evacuate from big cities in the event of Atomic attack.
