Does sports in America contribute to our sense of smalltown unity?

Here's a vignette about the EHS Vikings girls' field-hockey patriotism.

My name is Ajay Satan. I'm an Algerian-American Internet-blogger and self-proclaimed 'democracy-defending vigilante.' I dress up in masks/costumes and post ideas on the Internet regarding pornography/censorship in the modern age of media and how such controversies inform our perspectives on spirituality/Christianity. I'm interested in the symbolic value of the Vatican website and the ethics symbolism surrounding Playboy and graphic video-games marketed to countless consumers around the globe. However, today, I'm here to tell you about the intrigue and enchantment of the Eastern High School (New Jersey) girls' field-hockey team, which has seen outstanding/honored coaching and countless team awards and recognition including multi-year #1 national rankings. I'm here to tell you about EHS (Eastern High School), located in an idyllic suburban area of southern New Jersey, contributions to smalltown values and why we Americans (citizens of 'TrumpUSA') should celebrate social values in this age of networking...and propaganda(!).

Girls' high school field-hockey has a rich tradition in America, and today, various high-quality schools in America compete for national honors, and the EHS Vikings field-hockey team has achieved much in this 'realm.' Competitive sports represents Americans' interests in sportsmanship and peace and reflects our admiration of competitiveness and therefore the American Dream itself. We all remember the charm/intrigue of the 1990s high school boys' basketball team inspiration-film Hoop Dreams. Well, the EHS Vikings girls' field-hockey team has contributed its own special 'spice' to the formula/equation of smalltown spirit, competitive sports at the school-level, and even (arguably) patriotism itself. We 'diplomats' of modern media should elevate/celebrate the magic/charm of EHS Vikings field-hockey. Isn't that the duty of American journalists?

Anti-American terrorists (e.g., ISIS) want to challenge Americans' sense of patriotic teamwork and social values and even smalltown ethos by reminding us of the trauma of 9/11, when the World Trade Center was destroyed by hijacked passenger airplanes (seized by terrorists!). Today, agents/soldiers of the U.S. forces and intelligence (CIA) work to ensure that Homeland Security is a high priority. We've heard news-stories about terrible American high school shootings (e.g., Columbine) involving students killing students/faculty/staff with guns they sneak into school buildings. To manage our domestic problems, we need to make sure that American homeland is secured from the modern threat of anti-capitalism terrorism (e.g., ISIS). That's why today many U.S. soldiers and intelligence officers/agents are actually women(!), women who might find the charm/magic of EHS Vikings girls' field-hockey to be rather symbolic to American pride. These soldiers/agents of the U.S. government represent the very best of democracy in regards to EHS field-hockey(!).

We might hear of a big-time 'media diplomat' such as the super-celebrity Tom Hanks who begins reading about EHS field-hockey in the South Jersey newspaper Courier Post after making his iconic stalker-remake film The Ladykillers. Hanks might say, "When I read about EHS field-hockey, I thought about some of the offbeat noir anti-pedestrian folklore surrounding tales of American psychos stalking women in this great democratic nation, and I realize that we Americans are simply fascinated by human-centric storytelling." Yes indeed, EHS field-hockey is to American spirit what arguably Panasonic consumer-electronics company is to Japanese exports/commerce pride. That's why we want to understand/appreciate why EHS field-hockey appeals to all levels of modern-day America.

As for the team itself, EHS girls' field-hockey team was cited in a special section of the EHS entry in Wikipedia: "Eastern's field hockey team has the longest consecutive unbeaten streak in the history of the National Federation." Yes, the EHS Vikings are proud bearers of great achievements which is mostly thanks to great coaches who are able to harness and coordinate true talent not unlike the legendary Coach K of Duke University men's college basketball has done since the late 1980s. The EHS Vikings girls' field-hockey team has given to American journalists something great for smalltown spirit/pride --- fables. Is this the sort of news-story that TrumpUSA citizens find beautiful?

When I attended EHS, I played tennis and cross-country and noted the various girls' field-hockey athletes practicing/training for their special seasonal games. My mom would drive me to school in her awesome 1993 white Nissan Maxima, and I'd hope that other students noticed how terrific the car really was, and I had great pride in getting to school in that car with my mom. This was the early experience of my appreciation of America's general love of pride in capitalism. I thought the EHS Vikings field-hockey team therefore represented some of these magical features of American traffic. Isn't this why we fight terrorism?

As an Algerian-American, I like experimenting with the cuisine of cultures around the world, and I've enjoyed making dishes like Egg Curry (India), Tea Chicken (China), Flatbread Pizza (Italy), and Shrimp Bread (Africa). As I enjoy watching celebrity-chefs prepare their iconic dishes on the Food Network, I realize that the wealth of access to information and resources in Western civilization offers us civilians of America a chance to sample and try the various aesthetics of cultures around the world. This is really American imagination and it informs our social celebration of smalltown ethos which have build this great pluralistic country, enabling us everyday citizens to admire the magic/charm of EHS Vikings girls' field-hockey. After all, don't we want journalism today to reflect Americans' love of 'patriotic ornaments'?

I've grown up loving/reading patriotism/terrorism themed comics such as G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero. These comics present images/ideas/stories about offbeat heroes and strange adversaries challenging our perceptions of nationalism and civic duty. We read these folk-tales since we're interested in socialization intrigue (e.g., WikiLeaks, McCarthyism). You might discover that a team-member of the EHS Vikings girls' field-hockey team is a big fan of a patriotic American comic book superheroine such as Wonder Woman, Ms. Marvel, Lady Jaye, or Batgirl. We'd encourage this hypothetical EHS Viking to continue her celebration of great American comic book patriots/heroines, since we're interest in everyday-patriotism, of course.

When Coach K cut down the net after his Duke Blue Devils won their record-holding 5 national titles (amidst the very top of American colleges/universities in the NCAA!), Americans were in admiration of how televised sports marketed to countless people the modern social value of competitive sports and sportsmanship in this complex age of networks and treaties/contracts. When the PyeongChang Olympics saw a vital alliance between the Koreas in 2018, President Trump noted how sports contributed to culture and politics. Will the spirit of smalltown values arguably embodied in the EHS Vikings girls' field-hockey team echo in the halls of the American patriotism that remind us that teamwork is always more 'Christian' than terrorism?

TRUMP: I'm a big fan of EHS Vikings girls' field-hockey!
CARTER: They're arguably America's best, Mr. President...
TRUMP: Ya know, India had a legendary male field-hockey Olympian.
CARTER: The great Dhyan Chand...yes, I've read the stories.
TRUMP: Sports lifts the human spirit!
CARTER: We want modern sports to accentuate our appreciation of patriotism.
TRUMP: We don't want another Munich, Carter.
CARTER: No, sir; we want Hoop Dreams!
TRUMP: Maybe Tom Brady will make an ad about EHS Vikings field-hockey.
CARTER: Who knows? You can't predict sports-diarism in America...
