Egyptian Muslims Throng in Thousands to Protect Christians | Informed Comment

Thousands of Muslims honored a promise made by their leaders and showed up at Christmas Mass or at candlelight vigils outside Egyptian churches on Friday, offering their bodies as human shields against any acts of terrorists. The observances were tense, in view of the New Year’s Day bombing of a cathedral in Alexandria, which killed 21. The Egyptian Coptic Orthodox Church celebrates Christmas on January 7. Among those Muslims making this statement was beloved comedian Adil Imam. Since the 1990s Imam has been active in combating radicalism, memorably in his film “Kebab and Terrorism” (Kebab wa Irhab).

Father Marqus, the Bishop of Alexandria, said that in his entire life he had never seen the degree of solidarity of Muslims with Coptic Christians that he has witnessed in recent days. He said that Muslims attending the funeral of the Christian victims of the New Year’s Day bombing had treated them like Muslim martyrs, pronouncing ‘God is Great!’ in mourning, and had erupted in applause at the condemnation of the terrorists.

Won't see the hate mongers post stories like these.

You are, of course, quoting Jose, the renoun expert in Egyptian Christian/Muslim Relations, who has posted his POV.

Unhappily, he included a link to this

An Al Jazerra report with the correspondant walking among what appear to be about a dozen "muslim protesters" and a phalax of police protecting...them? The Christians?

At any rate if this is the best propaganda Al Jazerra can put together to demonstrate Muslim contempt for the terorist bombing of Alexandria Christians, I remain unimpressed.

Right. It looks like Al-Jazeera's intensive propaganda effort involved infiltrating Western news outlets as well:

You left this quote out:

Coptic student Nader Rizkallah was happy to see Muslims get involved in efforts to get closer to Copts. Nonetheless, he wondered if such solidarity will last.

"I'm really glad with the spirit some Muslims have shown this Christmas, but did we have to wait for something disastrous like the Alexandria bombing to get closer? Will we stay this close next Christmas even if no deadly attacks occur before it?" Rizkallah told The Times.

Sorry bout that,

1. If one Muslim stood up for the Christians in Egypt its a first.
2. And this may bring huge backlash for them.
3. Lets see where this ends up.

People putting their lives at risk to protect others is a Selfless act.

Yes, Thank You Modbert.

But this thread also illustrates the delimma that muslims face every day.

We are constantly berated by people over negative things the media presents about muslims and Islam.

Yet, when a very positive story like this comes out about muslims like this one.

We still get negative responses of "is an anomaly" or "must be a hoax", and other derogatory comments.

No wonder most muslims here feel isolated and remain silent about various issues concerning muslims and Islam.

Don't you see that you cant straddle the fence like that Sunni Man. You claim Muslims victimization in one thread.

Then you call for the World's Mass Expulsion of Jewry to an Island where they will be guarded from escape.

Can't you see that moderation in one post and extremism in another completely disavows your moderate victim stance?

It's not that this post is in error. It is correct.

It's you that is in error. You are not correct. Play the moderate in this post and then....

:cuckoo:

That does not fly.

That was a wonderful event, Modbert. Thankies for posting a story about it.

Indeed, it is a wonderful event. But it must be kept as that. A single event.

Christians were still murdered.
And this is an event about that murder.

But that's still a lovely event.

And? Less than 20 years ago, a Zionist ape massacred dozens of Muslims in the Mosque of Abraham. His grave became a pilgrimage destination for other Zionist apes, and as far as I know, continues to be just that. Where were the Jews protesting the ape Goldstein's massacre? Where are the Muslims venerating these recent murderers?

This is about a different event Kalam.

Please stay in the here and now. You often run from post to post and forget the context of the posts.

This is about "Egyptian Muslims Throng in Thousands to Protect Christians"

Not about Jews and "Zionist Apes".

On another thread Ropey said something about not running from the "Truth."

Guess he changed his mind when the "Truth" exposes Jew attacks on innocent people.

Here is your fellow Jews celebrating a mass murderer Ropey.

"In the weeks following the massacre, hundreds of Israelis traveled to Goldstein's grave to celebrate Goldstein's actions. Some Hasidim danced and sang around his grave."

"The grave's epitaph said that Goldstein "gave his life for the people of Israel"

"In the years after the dismantling of the shrine, radical Jewish settlers would celebrate Purim by invoking the memory of the massacre, sometimes even dressing up themselves or their children to look like Goldstein."

Wide spread distribution of this kind of news with videos would go a long way toward "humanizing" the Moslems. Right now, "Moslems are portrayed as "Moslems". It's much easier to hate a horde than it is to hate individual mothers, sons or daughters or fathers or brothers.

The celebratory "God is Great" as they commit the spirits of Christians to the Creator is revealing. People are people wherever we go.

Thank you for this post.

Ask Ropey about wrecking the thread "Besa: Muslims Who Saved Jews in World War II"

With his usual personal attacks and of topic posts.

Just because it was a positive story about muslims and jews working together.

Something he hates to know about or hear.

Cause he thinks it makes Zionists look bad.

Or maybe, just maybe, radical islam is not a religion?

Oh I know, all muslims want to kill non-muslims. This demonstration just shows how many muslims are inept!

I swear, after a thousand years of domination of North Africa and the Arabian Penisular, they would have cleared the area of nonmuslims by now! Look! They even had the chance of getting rid of some none muslims at that Christian mass in Egypt. But how many did they kill? Did they even abuse a child while no one was looking??

Inept I say! Those "blood thirsty Islamic enthusiasts" are just inept at killing Christians! Makes you wonder if they are even trying!

This is awesome, heart warming. Gives me hope and faith in those Muslims who stood with those Coptic Christians in that I hope that warmth and love will continue to hold their hearts and souls, and they will realize that they belong in the arms of Christ, not that "Mohamed" thing and convert.

Also, check out the brave, awesome lady @ 0:27-0:30:
