Egyptian riot police fired tear gas and live ammunition overnight to disperse thousands of pro-Palestinian protesters outside the Israeli Embassy in Cairo, and a security official said Monday that at least 20 demonstrators were arrested.

The rally in Cairo followed calls on Facebook for Arabs to march on Israel on Sunday in support of the Palestinians, who were holding annual ceremonies marking the "nakba," or "catastrophe" - the term Palestinians use to describe their defeat and displacement in the war that followed Israel's 1948 founding.

Egypt's Health Ministry said at least 353 people were hurt outside the embassy, mostly from smoke inhalation. A security official said that some protesters sustained bullet wounds and that one protester was in critical condition. The official spoke on condition of anonymity because he wasn't authorized to talk to the media.

The protesters set fire to an Israeli flag, chanted anti-Israeli slogans and called for the expulsion of Israel's ambassador and the closure of the embassy.

.......................................

Egypt's state-run news agency MENA said the protesters managed to push aside barricades placed around the embassy building and attempted to storm the embassy itself to tear down the Israeli flag, which prompted the police action.

Notice in the first paragraph that what the Palestinian Arabs and some of their supporters like to call, catastrophe, this very popular Turkish newspaper calls defeat and displacement after the war, without any acrimonious assignations of responsibility. It is a hopeful sign, imo, that despite the popularity of the Islamist (?) government in Turkey, some are still able to think clearly and speak freely.

Interesting because the Palestinians never lost that war.

Perhaps like an old boxer who is too punchy to understand it's all over and goes around talking about his comeback.

The 1948 war was different than the war with Palestine. The 1948 war was called by UN security Council resolution. Nobody lost that war.

Israel attacked Palestine before the 1948 war. I don't know if that could be classified as a war because it was Israel's military attacking Palestinian civilians. Palestine had no military and still doesn't. Anyway, that war has never ended. Nobody has lost that war yet.

Sounds like the losers are just too punchy to know the war is over.

You said it. There is no war therefore the blockade is illegal and Israel has no legal status on which to stop Freedom Flotilla 2, 'Stay Human' from getting to Gaza.

Every comments thread on every internet site on the world which has discussed the Israeli naval murders, has been inundated by organised ZIonist commenters stating that the Israeli action was legal under the San Remo Manual of International Law Applicable to Armed Conflicts at Sea.
They ignore those parts of San Remo that specifically state that it is illegal to enforce a general blockade on an entire population. But even apart from that, San Remo simply does not apply.
The manual relates specifically to legal practice in time of war. With whom is Israel at war?
There is no war.

Cool, then palistanis don't have to be occupational in occupationally-liberational martyrdom and death drivel, of course, seeking mental care professional help instead.

These are, of course, some of the typical delusions occupying occupationally dumbass minds of palistanis and their nonsensical cheerleading squad in view that Israel was declared on May 14, 1948, palestine was a loose geographical area and never a state, and palisimians as such, as humorously noted by W.Shoebat, came to life like out of thin air on June 4, 1967, only.

Israel is fighting with all its might to try to not lose this war.

Israel isn't fighting because there is no one to fight. The war you are talking about exists only in your head.

Israel doesn't think so. Israel is constantly all over the world trying to hang on to its supposed legitimacy.

I see, when you say war, you mean a war of words. In that particular "war", Hamas is Israel's greatest ally since its terrorist status delegitimizes the Palestinian cause and legitimizes Israel's actions to protect itself. In fact, if not for Hamas, support for Israel in the US would be lower and sympathy for the Palestinian Arabs would be higher.

The terrorist status of Hamas only means something to those who have been duped into believing it.

What worries Israel.

The terrorist status of Hamas means that if you help them, you are a criminal in most of the western world.

What seems to worry you is that Israel now has the Palestinian terrorists and their supporters under control.

I see where they are on the Internet, but there is no evidence they are able to act in Israel or the territories. Maybe they're all armchair terrorists like you.

Israel is much more concerned than you are.
