Ed Miliband unveils stone carved with Labour pledges to be placed at Downing St if he wins - General Election 2015 - UK Politics - The Independent

Ed Miliband has unveiled a giant stone slab inscribed with Labourā€™s six election pledges ā€“ and vowed to have it installed at Downing Street if his party wins the general election.

Speaking in front of the 8ft 6ins-high piece of limestone, the Labour leader said he would keep the stone ā€œin a place where we can see it every day as a reminder of our duty to keep Labourā€™s promisesā€.

The plan is said to be still not entirely certain ā€“ now thereā€™s a surprise ā€“ but it will presumably go in one of those flower beds near the back gate where Samantha Cameron plants her aromatherapy herbs and where Gordon Brownā€™s wife Sarah used to grow vegetables.

Will full-breasted Harmanite maidens and fluting-voiced New Labour press officers dance round this stone every summer solstice? Or will it one day be found covered in lichen in some back garden in Doncaster, near rusting prams, discarded lavatory bowls and boxes of never-distributed leaflets entitled ā€˜The Miliband Ascendancyā€™?
