Eat more Meat.

If this conversation ever gets to current, verifiable fact instead of wild speculation about millennia ago, will someone be so kind as to let me know?

Think that if it gives you comfort.

In realityland, there is a natural cycle of life involving birth and death, bloom and decay, predators and prey.

No, it is what I actually believe. Not because it gives me comfort. In fact, you just reminded me of a quote, that pretty much sums up my experience:

If you look for truth, you may find comfort in the end;
if you look for comfort you will not get either comfort or truth,
only soft soap and wishful thinking to begin,
and in the end, despair.

– C. S. Lewis

C.S. Lewis wasn't a vegan, hun.

I didn't say he was. :D I think you know my point was about belief, and what one should look for (Truth, not comfort.)

I doubt you guys will watch this, but I'll post it anyway. I posted a thread with this video, and I actually got yelled at by an animal lover who didn't want to see animals being harmed. That kind of blew me away, because unless one has stopped eating animal products… why would you not want to see what you are supporting with your dollars? Actually, I know the answer to that question. I too was willfully blind, for a number of years… and I remember saying, "I could never be a vegan or vegetarian, because I love meat too much" The funny thing is, every vegan that used to eat meat has said that exact same thing.

Hmmm...from my observations and experience, people usually take great comfort in their beliefs. You are finding in the texts you quoted things that reaffirm your personal beliefs. I disagree with the conclusions you are drawing - but support your right to do so. So, peace.

I'll continue to eat meat without any remorse.

Veganism is an ideology, not a diet.

From my observations, it's a Religion, especially among the newly converted.

I've also noticed that when most vegans and vegetarians get drunk, they eat cheeseburgers, bbq, or bacon. Deep inside many plant-eaters is a carnivore dying to get out, imho.

I find your posting of Vegan Porn to be highly offensive.

Did you watch it? And are you joking? If not, then why is it offensive to you?

To me that is akin to a pro-abort being offended by people posting pictures of dead fetuses. It's the reality. If people don't like that reality, then they shouldn't get mad at people for posting images of it… they should no longer participate in it.

I don't post images of aborted fetii, so your deflection is a fail.

I'm filing you away as a hateful vegan. Adios.

Wow. What a game-changing shocker! I did not realize they actually killed animals to get the meat from them. I thought they just asked nicely, and the animals handed it over.

Why do I think you're the first one to pitch a purple hissy fit when pro-lifers post pictures of aborted fetuses?

By the way, I'm still waiting for this conversation to get back to facts. This little foray into no-thought histrionic vapors doesn't qualify.

And hey, thanks for running right on to the assumption that OF COURSE we're all ignorant of the fact that animals are slaughtered to get their meat, and OF COURSE we all don't want to know, simply because YOU are like that. I love being automatically lumped in with hypocritical, melodramatic retards.

So far, your entire "argument" - and I use that term very loosely - has consisted of you making one arrogant ASSumption after another, and being so wrong you're in the next county over from correct. Maybe you should concentrate on just making your own arguments, instead of trying to come up with both sides. You're clearly under-qualified.

I think you misunderstood. I was asking you why it was offensive to you… when it is the reality in factory farms and slaughterhouses. In the aborted fetus analogy, I would've been the person posting those images, which offend people. The point was: those who are angry about those images shouldn't be mad at those who post them… they should be mad at the actual act that is taking place! :)

And I haven't been hateful. If you think I have, please point out where.

Did you watch the video? It wasn't simply about animals being killed, it showed the reality of how they are treated… caged, exploited, abused, terrorized.

Why do I think you're the first one to pitch a purple hissy fit when pro-lifers post pictures of aborted fetuses?

No, I'm pro life. Like Bo, you misunderstood. I'm saying that getting mad at people for posting imagery of slaughterhouses is akin to a prochoice person getting mad at a prolifer for posting aborted fetuses. Again, the point was why get mad at someone for posting those images… If you don't like them, then why participate in it?

Are you still referring to my posts on God's original design? If you don't agree, that's fine. But my point that God's original design was peace and harmony and non-meat eating (Genesis 1:29–30) is not even debated among scholars or pretty much anyone who has studied the Bible. I've never heard any believer claim that God's original design was for animals and humans to be at each other's throats.

That said, I know that not everyone is on the same page in regard to spiritual beliefs, so we don't have to talk about that anymore.

And hey, thanks for running right on to the assumption that OF COURSE we're all ignorant of the fact that animals are slaughtered to get their meat, and OF COURSE we all don't want to know, simply because YOU are like that. I never assumed that. Obviously I know that you know that. Again, the video was not merely about slaughter.

I really haven't been trying to make arguments. I stated a fact, that according to the first chapter of the first book of the Bible, we were herbivores in the beginning. You can say that the Bible is wrong, but I'm not sure how you can claim that the Bible does not say that.

But again, we can move on from that subtopic, that's fine with me. There are tons of reasons to not eat meat in this day and age, that have nothing to do with what happened thousands of years ago.

Perhaps I'm not making myself clear. I don't disdain your opinions because I'm like you and don't understand the subject until a picture is drawn for me in bright Crayola colors. I am fully aware of what raising animals for meat entails, and I STILL think you're an illogical jagoff who thinks with her glands rather than her brain.

Also, WE were never talking about spiritual beliefs at all. YOU tried to digress off onto them because you couldn't make a case based on scientific fact, and you figured if you projected the argument you WANTED me to make onto me, it would be easier than having to answer any arguments I ACTUALLY made.

Furthermore, do not piss on my leg and then try to convince me it's raining. You didn't post that video, and then when it got responded to in a way that didn't fit what you wanted, come back with, "Well, did you watch it?!" because you weren't assuming that we were all unaware of what's involved in producing meat for food. So spare me your lame protestations of innocence.

Finally, I would certainly like to believe you haven't been trying, because I'd hate to think this has been your best effort.

Soooo good. The best food in the world is anything I don't have to make myself. ;)

I love red meat. I also know how to hunt, field dress and cut up (slaughter) deer. I have nothing against vegans.
`

I wouldn't have anything against them if they didn't feel the need to evangelize, issue moral judgements, and just generally irk the shit out of people.

They can eat whatever grass and twigs appeal to them, but they need to back up off of my dinner.
