Not the middle of nowhere
More bad news for the doomsdayers that always get it wrong...........

The sea levels are now reducing in the “hotspots of acceleration” of Washington and New York

And all we've heard about for the past decade is how Battery Park would be under water by 2016..........:2up:

These alarmists........they really need to seek a different hobby!! Imagine if you were a model builder.....building plastic cars 1:24 scale and every single one you built had the door fall off EVERY TIME for a decade!!:eusa_dance::eusa_dance:

http://www.nature.com/nclimate/journal/v2/n12/full/nclimate1597.html?W

Climate warming does not force sea-level rise (SLR) at the same rate everywhere. Rather, there are spatial variations of SLR superimposed on a global average rise. These variations are forced by dynamic processes1, 2, 3, 4, arising from circulation and variations in temperature and/or salinity, and by static equilibrium processes5, arising from mass redistributions changing gravity and the Earth’s rotation and shape. These sea-level variations form unique spatial patterns, yet there are very few observations verifying predicted patterns or fingerprints6. Here, we present evidence of recently accelerated SLR in a unique 1,000-km-long hotspot on the highly populated North American Atlantic coast north of Cape Hatteras and show that it is consistent with a modelled fingerprint of dynamic SLR. Between 1950–1979 and 1980–2009, SLR rate increases in this northeast hotspot were ~ 3–4 times higher than the global average. Modelled dynamic plus steric SLR by 2100 at New York City ranges with Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change scenario from 36 to 51 cm (ref. 3); lower emission scenarios project 24–36 cm (ref. 7). Extrapolations from data herein range from 20 to 29 cm. SLR superimposed on storm surge, wave run-up and set-up will increase the vulnerability of coastal cities to flooding, and beaches and wetlands to deterioration.

Well, one can accept what is in Watts blog, which has the same credibility as the Weekly Globe, or you can go to the original source.

The alarmist religion always, always falls back on shooting the messenger when they get pwned by the data!! ( its a progressive thing  )

And here............they are pwned!!

Sounds to me like you were pawned for posting a lie. Even those that disagree with AGW pointed that out. The paper said that the rate of acceleration of the sea level rise is presently declining on the East Coast.

now who's lying?

Nope. You just need to understand the claim. acceleration is different from rate of rise or actual sea level. Read it carefully. IN FACT --- take a good look at those graphs in general. Rate of rise in ANY CASE was rapidly FALLING into the beginning of the 20th century at those locations when CO2 and temp were rising.

And this discussion is all about hot heads looking at short-term variations in rates and accelerations that are pretty meaningless ANY way you parse them. The "rate" LATELY in those areas has been flat at about the GLOBAL rate for many decades. No accelerated sea level rise detected.

C'mon Ray.........not for nothing but you guys are ALWAYS screwing with the semantics on this stuff. Its a daily thing in here.........and you are accusing another member of a "lie".:lmao:

Then you know what.......the stats you post on solar and wind " % increases".............posting a lie.:bye1:

Nobody cares s0n..........

The masses look at this and see it like a proctologist saying the zit on your face is going to put you in the box!!

They just completed a study.........determined those part of the global warming religion are obsessed with stuff most of the population isn't. They called it.........."a mental imbalance".:itsok:

Heres the study s0n >> “My Worries Are Rational, Climate Change Is Not”: Habitual Ecological Worrying Is an Adaptive Response

Nobody cares about 3 millimeters.........except the k00ks!!! Explains quite well why only 2% of the population is really concerned about climate change!!!

Kinda puts the exclamation point on the conclusion of the study huh?!!!:eusa_dance::eusa_dance::eusa_dance:

Oh....and speaking of the "real world"...........:eusa_dance::eusa_dance:

So.........lets say everybody in here accepts the sea level......for now..........is rising a few millimeters. OK. This has been out there for years and years ( part of the established narrative of the religion ).

Where is it mattering in the real world?:dunno:

Outside of the internet environment forums, university campuses and Hollywoood........who is caring?:funnyface::funnyface::funnyface::funnyface:

Skook, let's get back to what you're trying so desperately to deflect from, which is your big lie.

The study didn't say sea levels were falling.

You parroted a WUWT claim that said sea levels were falling.

WUWT lied to you, and you fell for it and repeated the lie.

At this point, you have a choice. You can renounce the liars, or embrace them. You've chosen to embrace them, which means you're giving your stamp of approval to their lying tactics. No surprise, that is. The cult tells you what to do, and you obey.

Scientists confirm that sea levels are rising and the rate of rise is accelerating.

brilliant....... poised responses by my esteemed colleagues on this forum!!! The lack of anger and misery in the posts.........impressive!!:2up:

I still have a member calling people like me part of a "cult" when every polls says 2% of Americans are "very concerned" about climate change!!

I guess Im the asshole here!!!:eusa_dance::eusa_dance:

Sorry man. There was no accurate Global Surveys of Sea Levels prior to the 20th century. So all these claims about "unprecedented" are just fairy dust for TinkerBelle.. Also does not change the data that show RATES of rise along the East coast FALLING during the first half of the 20th century. WELL into the industrial age increase in GH gases.

And the 5 inches in 100 years that they are citing? That's 1.27mm a year. The same as it was before the satellite measurements nearly DOUBLED that rate because of interpretation differences.

THERE is the "acceleration". Give scientists better tools and BINGO --- the numbers are bound to change. Thermometers for instance are much better thermal tools than tree rings.

Right here in this thread are charts of sampled East coast "accelerations"..
If you guys knew the difference between "accelerations" and absolute levels -- you would have gotten this on page1.

clip_image0142.jpg

clip_image0085.jpg

The "acceleration" actually DECREASED by 6 whole mm/yr/yr at DC --- just in 60 years up to 1990 at Wash DC.

And that Sci Amer article used "flood data" ---- NOT just SL data.. If you had enquiring minds you'd know the diff. The DIFFERENCE is the DEVELOPMENT AND LAND USE issues in those locations they relied on.

You level the dunes, build flood walls, pave over wetlands and guess what -- you disturbingly zombied zealots.......

Flooding and storm surge issues WILL get much worse. Keep those natural barriers and RESTORE THEM and things will get better.. Sheeezzzzzit..

Sorry, dingbat. Scientists can calculate sea levels going back millennia. People have been building things on coastlines for thousands of years, numbnuts.

Because you are an anti-science and very retarded denier cult troll, that is all beyond your comprehension.
