I lived in Cali for a year and half. We had a 4.3 and 4.8. This was a full order of magnitude larger than anything I felt there. I have to say, Earthquakes are pretty disconcerting. They're pretty freaky when they come on you out of the blue. They don't approach a tornado for sheer terror value though.
