Hard to believe, but this nonsense is ‘celebrating’ its 41st birthday. Those of us with any sense have largely ignored it because we mistakenly believed that only children would take it seriously…we didn’t believe that any sentient adult would!

But….good intentions are a powerful driver, and the Left buys this stuff like it was on sale!

    1. Each year, Earth Day -- April 22 -- marks the anniversary of what many consider the birth of the modern environmental movement in 1970. The height of hippie and flower-child culture in the United States, 1970 brought the death of Jimi Hendrix, the last Beatles album, and Simon & Garfunkel’s “Bridge Over Troubled Water”. Earth Day: The History of A Movement | Earth Day Network

    2. We are about to witness a worldwide pagan rite – the worship of the earth, the worship of Gaia, (Earth Mother). Earth Day is the worship of nature — rather than Nature’s God.

Though touted as, somehow, NEW, worship of the earth is likely the oldest religion on earth. Born of child-like ignorance, it has survived centuries and is, once again, robust and thriving among those people of earth who have lost their way and have reclaimed this form of paganism …” Earth Day, The High Holy Day of Paganism | The Silent Majority Earth Day, The High Holy Day of Paganism | The Silent Majority

    3. Michael Crichton, in his “Environmentalism as Religion” remarks, made before the Commonwealth Club, in San Francisco in 2003, summed it all up.
“The believers in environmentalism believe and preach that we should live in unity with nature, or the environment. They believe that in the beginning we did. They believe that we are now living in sin because we have polluted the earth. We will be visited with a judgment day and the judgment will be death, for the whole planet, unless we repent, (which means to turn around and go the other way) and make our way back to sustainability. You see, in the environmentalism religion, sustainability IS salvation.”” … Michael Crichton

    4. On the excellent webcast Uncommon Knowledge, Czech president Václav Klaus recently compared “two ideologies” that were “structurally very similar. They are against individual freedom. They are in favor of centralistic masterminding of our fates. They are both very similar in telling us what to do, how to live, how to behave, what to eat, how to travel, what we can do and what we cannot do.” The first of Klaus’s “two ideologies” was Communism—a system with which he was deeply familiar, having participated in the Velvet Revolution in 1989. The second was environmentalism.
The Varieties of Liberal Enthusiasm by Benjamin A. Plotinsky, City Journal Spring 2010

    5. It is no accident that April 22, Earth Day, is also the birth date of Vladimir Lenin, an acolyte of Karl Marx, the lunatic who invented communism as an alternative to capitalism. Earth Day is naked communism. To begin, it substitutes a worship of the Earth, Gaia, for the worship of God, creator of the universe and the instructor of moral behavior for mankind. The Earth does not demand a moral code of personal behavior. While America was established to ensure “life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness”, environmentalism exists to exert more and more control over our lives by limiting our choices, our liberty.

    6. UNITED NATIONS — Bolivia will this month table a draft United Nations treaty giving “Mother Earth” the same rights as humans — having just passed a domestic law that does the same for bugs, trees and all other natural things in the South American country.
The bid aims to have the UN recognize the Earth as a living entity that humans have sought to “dominate and exploit” — to the point that the “well-being and existence of many beings” is now threatened…. It also establishes a Ministry of Mother Earth, and provides the planet with an ombudsman whose job is to hear nature's complaints as voiced by activist and other groups, including the state.UN document would give 'Mother Earth' same rights as humans

    7. “In our contemporary era, Earth Day has become the modern celebration of Gaia. Partakers of this event, whether aware of it or not, play off the ancient pagan beliefs of a Universal Mother. Like the sacred oaths taken in her name, today’s Earth Day celebrants sign environmental petitions, make pledges, and announce resolutions in support of Mother Earth. And like the old sacrifices to the deity, today’s Earth Day practitioners offer sacrifices of “good works” to the planet. Not only is the Earth a deity to be venerated, but the Earth itself – as the representative and embodiment of the Goddess – has become a modern day idol.” All For Gaia: Earth Day and Total Transformation for a Post-Christian World « Forcing Change

    8. And our liberal friends actually voted for folks who represent this kind of ‘thinking’:

    a. Obama selected regulatory czar Cass Sunstein has suggested that animals have the right to lawyers, and advocated that animals have the right to sue humans in court: “Animals should be permitted to bring suit, with human beings as their representatives …”
    - 2004 book Animal Rights: Current Debates and New Directions

    b. Obama choice for Science Czar John Holdren sees people as no different form any other species, and has endorsed compulsory sterilization, as in ‘controlling the herd.” Obama's science czar suggested compulsory abortion, sterilization | Washington Examiner

    c. [Obama advisor Philip] Singer once explained his belief that, "killing a newborn baby is never equivalent to killing a person, that is, a being who wants to go on living." Obama czar pick: 'Raving animal rights nut'

    9. But folks are waking up! While Gallup regularly found that Americans favor environmentalism by a two-to-one ration, "A Gallup poll released last week found that Americans are prioritizing economic growth over the environment by the widest margin in nearly three decades."
Life Inc. - Americans say save the economy, not the planet

    Earth Day, May Day....environmentalism, totalitarianim...

Neither belongs in a liberty-loving America!

Apparently those children did take Earth Day seriously as they are leading projects to clean up our neighborhoods, teach kids about recycling, planting gardens, and trees that beautify our communities.

We do not inherit the earth from our ancestors, we borrow it from our children. ~Native American Proverb

Rocks...didn't I make my point clearly enough????

"Earth Day" is a ploy to rope in children and those who think like children...a kind of 'can't we all just get along with the plants and animals and earth....'

Now...follow me on this....guess who is behind this movement? Well, who would want to take control of the world, using ploys and seemingly benign associations?

Hint: the same folks who tried to take over the world in the last century...

    Still don't get it?

OK...do you know why the environmental movement is sometimes known as the 'Watermelon Movement'?
'Cause it's green on the outside, but red on the inside!

So, you finally get it...but you don't believe it?
    Check this out:

"One spin-off of the Enlightenment was the desire to find new myths that would transcend daily existence and take one to a higher level of purification. Proto-fascist, and founder of ecology, Ernst Haeckel, invested nature-worship with the belief that all matter was alive and possessed mental attributes. In ‘monism,’ he brought together hostility to Christianity and propaganda for Darwinism, a nature cult and theories of hygiene and selective breeding.
J.W. Burrow, “The Crisis of Reason: European Thought, 1848-1914,” p. 218-19

    Who was Haeckel?

“In 1867 the German zoologist Ernst Haeckel coined the term 'ecology'and began to establish it as a scientific discipline dedicated to studying the interactions between organism and environment. Haeckel believed in nordic racial superiority,
strenuously opposed race mixing and enthusiastically supported racial
eugenics. Haeckel contributed to that special variety of German
thought which served as the seed bed for National Socialism.
    He
became one of Germany's major ideologists for racism, nationalism
    and imperialism…he fulminated in antisemitic tones…played a
key role in the establishment of the Nazi movement.”
Eco Fascism / Fascist Ideology : the Green Wing of the Nazi Party and Its Historical Antecedents by Peter Staudenmaier

C'mon, Rocks...think about this. And what could be a better time for you to be 'reborn' than Easter!

Environmental activities/awareness works. The water is cleaner/safer since the environmental efforts started. The air is safer to breathe, etc.

Ever wonder why Earth Day is on 22 April??

    Simple.

Vladimir Lenin was born on 22 April 1870

The Marxist /Socialist picked that day to honor their hero Lenin's birthday. :doubt:

    1) You give the date of the birth of the modern environmental movement. What hippies have to do with it? I don't get it. I know alot of conservatives who recycle.
    2) A world wide Pagan rite. Surely one who believes in the constitution would stand behind the principals of freedom of religion. Right?
    3) Michael Crichton? Isn't he a fiction writer, who makes his living off of making shit up?
    4) I'll help you out on this one. The difference between communism and environmentalism is one takes everything from you and forces you you live a certain way or they kill / imprision you (communism). The other askes you to keep the environment in mind before you throw your garbage into the woods.
    5) Really? they purposely picked that date because it was Lennins birthday? You can't possibly believe that can you? I've read alot of your posts and you seem smarter than that.
    6) Rights for mother earth? why not? our companies and corporations in the US have more rights than the everyday citizen.
    7) Again doesn't this fall under the freedom of religion? Staunch supporters of the constitution would agree and defend the rights of others to worship as see fit.
    8) I was always under the impression that here in the US we were able to vote our conscious. Am I wrong?
    9) This shows us that democracy is alive and well in the US, because there is an opposite view point that is being voiced.

Vigorous debate is the definition of liberty-loving America. Not the outright silencing of those we happen to disagree with.

Earth day, May day....just another day. Unless your scared.
